And now, you are expected to enlighten us with your fabulous solution that will not require tags to make thread titles informative.
[question] About The Whole Tags Controversy
Nope, I'm not going to tell you. It's a rebellion, remember? ![]()
why is this such an issue.
, if your gonna start a topic, tag it. ITS NOT REALLY THAT HARD!(serious)
if your a new here, thats a differnt story.... but after the rules have been explained to u, there really shouldn't be a problem.
sorry, but it seems like i see poor seph in EVERY thread tagging it or retagging it. lets give the poor guy a brake.
(if i seem cranky its cause its cuase i havn't had my coffie yet  )(ok that time i was jokeing
)
All I can say is, BLEH REBELLION REBELLION REBELLION REBELLION!!
I like TAG idea. And I think color is not so good because it's not so clear what is RED topic and what is BLUE... Especially when you come for the first time :moon:
And I like image idea... First we can make a small inages and news page will be more clear. Second is that is possible to use a "tooltip" on those images with explanation what they mean (like Deviant do - go to any member personal place and look at Favourites section - icon make it esy to understand who is what
)
And this is possible (i hope so :naughty: ) to replace topic icons /they are useless/ with tag icons and make them mandatory for submit a new topic.
And one more :secret: good idea :secret: - we can choose a site skin. Good! let us choose what we want to see: tag or icons :naughty: /for special person - not_tags options
/
Sorry if my text is not clear enough - english is not my native lang and ...
I like the tooltip idea.. it should be possible... its just an atl text, isnt it?
And yes, i understood everything, your english is very good ![]()
That is what i mean by stating your opinions and not stupid crap like "yahhh lets start a rebellioooon". Thanx for your views.
I liked when Timmie replaced the topic icons with the tag icons. That was not only easier, but very nice to look at in the forum view. // remembers

which is the proper thread title, and answer the question for bonus points.
1) HELP SOMONE HAXOROED MY MEGHURTZIES!!!!
2) [poll] does lostspyder 0wN seph?

As previously suggested I think it would be best to change the post icons and make them correspond to the current set of tags. Make it a required field and maybe move that section from where it currently is (under the area where you put the body of your message) to right below where you put the Topic title. Anyone with a modicum of board hacking skills should be able to accomplish this.
Examples:
This is the current setup:

This is the setup I propose:

I think this would encourage people to tag properly. Also as previously suggested make tooltips for each tag image that will give a brief decription of each tag.

Thanx!
It's good to see i am being understood :naughty:
And about tooltip - yes its somethink like alt text or maybe something like "title" atrib... im not a html guru (yet :smartass: )
the tag post icons? those were perfect. We could make them a compulsory field at the time of making a thread, what do you think?
that and color coded links would be perfect IMHO

Why cant members edit the titles of their own post? I think it would saves admins a lot of time. I see tons of post that end up being tagged by admins and the member realized they forgot to tag the post right after posting but they cant do anything about it
I think it is a form of security. If people could edit their topic titles, then it might lead to tricks being played. But there also might be an option to have a certain time limit that a member can change it, like with a post.
But I agree that enabling this would take alot of stress off of the mods (especially Seph). But we wouldn't really know how it would effect the rest of the boards until it is tested out.
I have an idea this is what you ladies want...
I agree with Seph. That's a nice solution. Mandatory tag selection before posting.
Is it possible that we can have it color coordinated also? Like the "COLOR" box when you post?
We'll see, if we do get something like this, I hope we can have it disabled on most of the forums that dont need them. GD! STOP TAGGING :moon:
who cares?
i say no to mandatory tags, this place isn't that big, as much as everyone likes to think so.
that is all.
Tag is good but for title page "Recent Forum Posts" section is not enough...
Thus I have one more suggestion: add a symbol to identify a forum "section" of a post...
For example "[release] Abstract-bst S2..." on main page told us about nothing
but something like this "+Wallpapers-icon+[release] Abstract-bst S2..." is more informative. isn't it? :smartass:

An idea is casted by DevArt

ok, let me start off by saying that i understand the importance in tags. it keeps the site clean with is very cool. but there is a problem developing in my eyes. maybe 3-4 months ago(who knows) every single thread, u saw the second or third post saying "USE THE SEARCH BEFORE POSTING  "... now i dont see that anymore, thank god, but now replacing that is "u didn't use the proper tag"...
Im fine if thats seph saying that or another staff member, cuase when they say that, they change it in the process.
when a nonstaff memeber says that, its just pointless...if u have a problem with a new member not following the rules, report them to a staff memeber and the problem will get solved.
im only bringing this up, cuase the last five threads i read had this, and i think its just as messy...
im not trying to act all high and mighty, im just trying to bring it to peoples attention, that your not really helping by telling a new member, cuase they cant fix it themselfs.
not a big deal, now go ahead all of u and tell me i didn't tag correctly ![]()
I see tag as this: People with some really bad OCD problems or a newsposter who has a hard time doing his job. I defintley agree with you Grimbabe.
Although, I do think tags being in only certain sub-categories is a good idea.
