Wow I made this threads months ago and its still not out :/ Matt said rc1 will be out around may 27, rc1 is when the skin sets are final to where I can make a skin and use it on the final version of ipb2.
So anyway if you guys have anymore suggestions let me know this week.
Heres a recap.

update post icons (little color aqua bubbles)
new background color or background image
So please let me know what you guys want, so I can get this done so we can launch the day it releases.
the 'thread rate' thinggie at the bottom has to move to a more prominent location IMHO. it also does look ugly: may a itune-ish equivialent ?

The "Hot Topic" check box looks too pale and dull. How about a nice glossy one made from scratch?

"Hot Topic" made me think of it.
What about the text size? Should I make it a little bigger? Its kinda hard to read on lcd screens.

It's pretty damn perfect as it is
nah, don't change the font size. it's perfect on my 17" LCD (1280x1024)
Are you abandoning the other skins request? Like NEOS and such?
When you're browsing the forums in 'view new posts' mode, (maybe some other way, too?), sometimes I find myself wanting to know when a thread was started... but don't want to actually open the thread. Especially when it seems an older thread has been resurrected, it would be nice to have a thread start date next to the topic title, or in another column or whatever. Shouldn't be a lot of work I guess, and seems kind of useful, at least to me.
Who wants to help me redesign the PostBit of the forums? :naughty:

I don't have access to an IPB Control Panel, but is that where you post? Like where I would be right now if you could see it?
If so:
I have always wanted the smilies to have their own row. Just a line of them rather having them on the left and it widens the post box. I have done it one time, but I cant find my backup.
Its the box your post is in, 
avatar, user name, postbit buttons (pm,msn,icq....) your post yada yada yada...

I have thought of having the member details and avatar at the top of the post along with the post info.
Then the post itself and then the MSN/AIM/EMAIl etc. buttons at the bottom.
Nah, leave it as it is. It's good like this, and (no offence meant) kjwebbs idea will look weird
