You must install Java runtime from sun site then double click on install-mrpostman-1.0.3beta1.jar and install mrpostman like any other programs.

Stupid question I know.... but I'm still going to ask it!

How can I add a background image to Thunderbird? I'm using a Rhapsodized theme but I want the normal panther background in Thunderbird. Is there a way to do that?

Wow, the best tutorial since Stevie BM tutorial on how to change firebird to safari (Y)

Hey Grim...here you go:

compact.png

Drag it into compact-tb.jar in your documents and settings/user/Application Data... you know the one!

I cant get the Compact Menu for Thunderbird. :(

I managed to get everything working, Great TuT

#108269

Nice tut, but there's one thing i don't get: When you click in the search bar the compactmenu pops up?

#108293

Thats good no?...you can't click 'in' the search bar...it's a graphic.

#108334

#108357

which bar?

u can edit the spacing in the compact menu thingy.

#108359

You can drag it off the toolbar and then drag it back on nearer the other buttons if you want.

Does that help?

Grim's fairly much said it. You need to fiddle around with the spacings, the flexible space and the separators (if you want) to get the sort of alignment.

Anyway, it looks fairly nice to me as it is now, anyway. ;)

#108398

i got it thx all for the info !

#108406

i have a question does ThunderBird alert you when you have new mail.. like iMail does??

#108436

I hope so! But you can't help but click 'Get Mail' can you? ...I can't...but then no one sends me mail anyway! ...well ...only...you know...that sort.

#108442

Yes, it does.

In fact, you can have a little pop-up window when you have new mail, just like MSN Messenger does when someone logs in/out. ;)

Pretty cool.

#108465

is there a way to make it mini to the system tray so its not in the taskbar

Ok, for a REAL good Mail.app emulation, if you're running ObjectDock, get the EMailChecker 2.1 docklet by AndreasV over at Wincustomize. You can set it up for your account to check however often you want and can use whatever .png's you want for when you have mail and when you don't. What I've done is use the original .png for Mail when I don't have mail and added the red badge to the original for when I do, changed the coordinates and color of the number and voila! I have what you see below! If anyone wants a detailed tutorial with the images post here.

I wouldn't know, I don't use Y'z because of it's shortcomings as well as it's discontinued status. <_<

Also, @ Bicet -

What exactly does replacing the messenger.dtd file do? I had already changed the brand before your tutorial but I'm curious what changes are made with messenger.dtd.

Thanks!

Ok, I posted a tutorial in the Applications-->Stardock-->ObjectDock section, right here.

Works well for me! (Y)

Awesome skin/tutorial.

Just a tiny, not that important problem.

The "You've got mail" pop up is so huge (as compared to the default one) that I had to turn it off. How do I make it smaller? ;)

you should be able to find the mail checker thingie at the docklets page.. but i dont like it too much, then you have thundertray as well.. which minimizes tb to the tray and still checks the mail at the intervals you set in thunderbird..

yeah yeah =)
