This is an option you can find in both QCD and Winamp (possibly others too).
I desperately miss being able to have access to iTunes' volume control slider, position in song slider, and the scrolling/flip up display of Artist/Title/Album/song length remaining, etc information (these all can be seen when using mini-mode) --- while not having the annoyance of seeing iTunes in the taskbar. I'd much prefer it to stay in the system tray while I'm in mini-mode.

Just fix 2 things, I think that's all that's needed for a new release.
1) Fix the shadow problem with WindowFX
2) Clean up the caption buttons. Use real panther buttons, not KoL's buttons...

for now, you can check the "Don't show in Alt-Tab when if it is Always-On-Top" box and "Make iTunes Always-On-Top when in Mini Mode", it behaves almost the same

Ya know what i would really like, but think is impossible to do with a plugin? Full skinning. As in changing the back, play, forward buttons, background of the app, like in neoz, itunes has a wicked skin. I don't wanna be stuck with the brushed one all my life, although it still looks cool, lol.
it's easy to skin everything that always stays the same like the background, the play/next/previous buttons, the buttons in the bottom, the search box, etc. but skinning the actual controls would be very hard :/
i'll try to do it, i don't think i'll succeed, but it's interesting and worth a try

What do you mean controls? I just mean to make the itunes looks different, as if it had a skin, not to change how it works.
I just wanted to mention that in OSX the iTunes scrollbars are native ones so they get "skinned" by the system appearence.
On windows we get hard coded ones which lets us have the part in the scrollbar that gets tiled be fixed so it doesn't move but I guess what he is saying is that it's not easy to skin controls like that.
i think hes saying that u couldnt skin them and put them in a different position. it would have to all look the same minus say a new color. wheras in winamp, everything could be moved around.
Winamp 2.x couldn't move things around only change their appearence. But yeah with modern skins you can.
However, I think he was talking about things like the scrollbars.
I don't mean flipping and moving things around, just skinning the prog, to look like the awesome neoz skin out for itunes. With and different bg, buttons, and scrollbar colors / bg.

When you say it is easy to Skin some things, but not the controls themselves I assume that means we can't get a true mini-mode, ala winamp where it is only the height of the application title bar? I'd love to have the iTunes minimode be about half the current size so it fits cleanly in the space of the title bar. As it is now I leave it always on top in minimode but wish it didn't use up so much space.
I guess the way the controls are coded prevents you from skinning to that level?

i need to learn the Winamp SDK to be able to simulate this...it will take me some time :/
about the full skinning, i can't skin scrollbars or other things that their position is not constant...it's too difficult (if possible at all) to track their position every time.

question, when I double click on a playlist to open a new window, the new window does not have the mac buttons on the left, instead the original luna look. Does this need to be skinned seperately and if it does can this be done? I do not use this feature to often but I occasioanally open a second window so that I can see my playlists as I add to them and it looks really dumb with the original bar. Thanks in advance! The plug in is awesome

btw, the new version is ready, and includes an option not to offset the titlebar, and a new configuration dialog.

i love your plugin and have been using it from the start... is there any way you could add a feature like AddShadow? I hate having to have that 8meg-resource-hog for just a simple thing like a drop shadow.
I wouldn't feel soo bad about using winFX if i didn't have to use that crappy addshadow program
