My System Files

flyakite, I know that installers are popular at this board, but could you please make an exception for a non-english XP users?

For example: I'm using russian version of WinXP and I can't just run installer, because I need to customize every .dll and .cpl manually.

So please make an alternate version of download: files packed with zip, rar or any archiver you like.

ps I can make a russian version patch for you if you like :naughty:

I should have clarified. The installer is not a package. All the files are seperate, and the installer just copies all .exe, or .dll files or whatever. It doesn't use specific names.

You don't have to use it if you don't want to, it is just available if you do.

Jeez, what a relief.

I just saw many aqua customization installers here that can't be just unpacked into separate folder.

Wating for a release :rule:

Prostoy, that was an interesting point.

flyakite, I'm using Windows XP Professional SP1 (Thanks!), but it's in Spanish... Will I have any problems when it comes to using your System Files?

Most likely.

First of all, your system will show dialogs in two languages: spanish and english. That's not that pretty, huh?

Second, the system can crash sometimes (my did this often) because of this replacement.

You just have to customize you dll's manually with reshacker or resbuilder or restorator or whatever-else-they-use.

Hmm. I can help make them non-SP1 if you need any help.. I would just get SP1 but updating to SP1 and dialup don't mix.

#74072

Gah, now this is a bunch of bad news for me, the Uber ****ie when it comes to Mac~ing WinXP.

Prostoy, can you describe in a little more detailed way what I should do to use the System Files?

#74074

Myuu_EXE, I gotta go now.

Send me a PM and ask all of the questions you want to ask. I'll answer them in a couple of hours, when I'll be at home, okay?

I'm quite happy to here that everything will come in seperate files. I just need the icons. I plan on extracting and using only the icons that look better than any current ones or icons that can fill any left over Luna icons.

The seperate files will make things easier for me.

jesus, i can´t understand why people do not use sp1 for xp.

A problem for a lot of our members here is that they don't own a legal copy of Windows XP and their CD-keys begin with FCKGW which is why they can't upgrade to SP1 due to SP1 banning those illegal keys.

All I have to say to those members is ....

#74266

Then change your WinXP Pro key. :6

To be fair, I have heard of a lot of legitimate copies of XP being hosed when being upgraded. I haven't had the experience of doing a normal upgrade to SP1 and having it screw up, but there are times that it is risky to upgrade.

On my first try updating to SP1, my system went funky. <_<

A sys restore plus a few file reinstalls brought it back to level ground.

After a recent complete reinstall, I was able to update without any muss or fuss.
