Okay, the system files will be released to the public later Monday evening. I'm all done except for a couple of batch files that will make backups of your current files. The files all have 128x128 icon support at high res. Just to let you know, right now these are only for SP1. I'm going to start working on a non-SP1 set soon, but it will take a little while, as this set wore me out.
For now, here are some screenshots.

one thing:
correct me if i´m wrong, but i thought it should be "package" of panther icons. i see a correct icon collection in your internet-explorer screeny, but the prob is, that this means to have the same toolbar icons (for example "back", "forward" and so on...) in every window like "my computer". could be just my impression, but i would say a correct icon-set of any window (except ie) is more important, than having the right icon-set for ie?

While that would be nice, it's not possibly with just system files. Internet Explorer and Explorer both access the same toolbar images. There is not a seperate set for each. They are mixed. The only way to achieve the exact correct images for Internet Explorer or Explorer toolbars is to use Y'z.
well, that´s exactly what i´m talkin about. and in my eyes the correct icons for explorer are more important, than the right one for internet explorer. but hey, like i said, just my point of view.

I would love to see if Lynchknot could possibly make a Firebird theme, based on the 'high quality' icons that you provided in your IE Panther toolbar pic...
Lynch, I know that Yazoo had a sort-of-similar Yz Toolbar theme, but it is quite a bit dated...
What do you think...for excitement is always created for the Windows/Aqua Emulation commuinites, when a new Mac OS (Panther 10.3) comes out...

I posted this here so that when I am truly finished and release them I can create a new post in System Files. I just wanted to use this for ideas/suggestions.
I'd release them now, but I need to go through just a touch more testing, and I have a coupe of things I want to change. I need to make sure the read-me is complete and that the restore files work perfectly before I release. Unfortunately they will not be released until Friday. I work these next two days and I have a huge exam Thursday morning I have to study for. And Friends is on Thursday night of course.
The wait will be worth it of course, and the icon quality is phenomenal. One of these days I'll get a site up with all my stuff posted on it. Between helping people with the Multi-Boot DVD guide I made up, school, the girlfriend, my new job, this stuff, etc. it's hard to find time. I just need to make absolutely sure everything will install fine or restore fine on everyone's system, because I hate to be held accountable.
The install works flawlessly on my machine, and will install on any machine no matter what drive windows is on or what directory windows is in (Windows, WINNT, System, etc). The install all works through safe mode, as that is the easiest way possible to restore all of your files without dealing with file protection and all that jaz.
So yeah, it's late, and I'm not sure what I've even been rambling on about. If you have any questions/suggestions/requests before the final release, let me know, and I'll see what I can do.

I hate to be a pain, but if the IE and Windows Explorer taskbar icons have to be the same, it would probably look better if you skinned the taskbars like Panther (pretty much the same as Safari) rather than IE for OS X which doesn't look mac like at all.
I realize the rounded search bar isn't feasable, but just buttons that resemble Panther would be great.
Example: (OS X 10.3: Panther)
I agree totally with guiness go for the Safari Panther type buttons for windows explorer

that toolbar icons is just horrible {no offence} and they don't look like mac at all...explorer is more important <_<
don't forget that many don't use ie any more so please make it the safari panther type as in the screeny....please :shy:
I've been trying not to be tempted into messing with System Files (As I usually tend to screw things up!). But honestly, you all seem so certain that this System File Mod is THE System File Mod that I can't wait! Thanks for all your hard work, flyakite!
The only problem is that I can't install WinXP Pro Service Pack 1 (Because I have a...uhm...pirated version of WinXP 
... Yeah, like I would PAY for WindowsXP... If I could afford it, I would try to raise money for an actual Macintosh!

Okay, here are the options.
A) I revert back to standard Windows toolbar icons and you all just use Y'z Toolbar
Someone provides me with a complete set of Safari toolbar icons
C) I use standard Mac toolbar icons (most likely)
guiness.... I don't know if you looked at the screenshots, or read my very first post, but for one in the Control Panel screenshot there is an icon for the Java Plugin. And, if you read my very first post, I asked that if anyone has any odd control panel icons they want included they have to send them to me. I'm not going to install AvantGo just to get the icon for someone.
The file will be a .cpl file

1) Will this version of your System Files release be compatible with Non-SP1 WinXP Pro? Because I've been having a lot of trouble trying to get SP1 on my system...
2) Will the package feature an Installer of some sort?
3) Do you have an estimate date on when you are going to release the package?

sp1 was a pain in the butt for me too. That's about all I can say or Contra Sutra will come and wisk me away. :woot:
Myuu_EXE - I sent you a PM.
Everyone else - They will for certain be released by Friday or Saturday. 100% guaranteed.
There is an installer, however it needs to be run from Safe-Mode w/ Command Prompt. (F8 before the Windows boot screen comes up)
Once I get some extra spare time (this weekend), I'll work on developing an installer that will work straight through Windows, and allow you the option of deciding which extra Control Panel files you want to install.
These files are not yet for SP1. I'm working on obtaining the files at the moment, I just have to send someone the list of files I need. I have been SO busy lately it's not even funny. However, I recommend you all upgrade to SP1. (questions? Contact me).
I have some extra things I want to add to a few files before I release them, that's why I haven't yet.
