I know exactly what you mean...

The problem is that myself and binary had to find a way to keep the corners the same size, but have the rest of the skin resizable...

Unfortunately this means that unless the skin is (128*x)+16 pixels wide, where x is the width or height, the borders will be off to varying degrees.

We recognise this as an issue, but there's no elegant solution that we can see, and I'm not willing to compromise full resizability for such a minor issue.

If, however, anyone has any idea of how we can fix it, then I'll happilly listen and try it, but I spent about a week thinking about how to fix it, as did Binary...

I must have had about 50 PMs here, at TwistedCPU, at AquaXP, and at Neowin, all asking for beta.

In each forum, I've posted quite obviously saying that there is no external beta - I have a team whom I trust and depend on for testing - we all have very different requirements from the skin, and very different systems on which it's running.

If I want more beta testers, I'll find the people who I want, or ask for requests.

Release update:

Unfortunately, it's looking more and more like an end of week release - I finally gave up the ghost and installed Win2K3 on my main machine yesterday because I'm frankly fed up with IIS 5.1 on XP - 1 website at a time on a multi-IP'd box is just plain silly.

Getting my box back to fully working order has taken the last 30 hours (including 8 of sleep, admittedly) of my life, but it's worth it. My box is once again responsive, and I can develop on multiple websites on my machine.

Oh, and it's a legal copy too... *Is an MSDN Open Universal subscriber*

Anyway, about the release - I've had no time this weekend, what with the reinstall and uni work and work for the job which pays for me to live, but I'm hoping to get a couple of hours tonight, and all tomorrow and Tuesday night... Maybe Wednesday release, but almost certainly end of the week.

Skin warning:

To get this skin looking exactly like the screenies I posted, you'll need to install the LucidaGrande.pfm which I'll be including with the skin... If you don't, the listboxes (source, genre, artist, album) and dynamic texts (current time, remaining time, track title, playlist summary) will render as boring ol' Tahoma... Unfortunately, this font is fairly chunky, and may not be to some people's tastes (mine included, to a certain extent). That, I'm afraid, is the only way either myself or Binary can find to get font faces to work on texts in Windows Media Player skins.

If anyone has any recommendations for getting this to work with other fonts, please pass them on either here or in a PM to myself or Binary.

It can be changed, but the point is that the Type 1 ttf version doesn't seem to work at all with Windows Media Player - it just reverts to Tahoma...

Bear in mind that, like I say, I've had somewhere in the region of 50 PMs since I announced this (when I started this thread on 10 Sep 03, 4 days ago)...

Most of these PMs are after I posted about it only being released to people I released it to, until some point this coming week.

So, as for being sensitive, I think it's only fair if I get a little narc'd when I get loads of people asking the same question when the answer is right in front of them...

I've done more work in the last couple of hours than I thought possible...

All I have left is a few tweaks, and the miniplayers (which are a very small task).

when you have both LucidaGrande and Lucida Grande installed, one of them doesnt work a lot of times

so i guess i wont install LucidaGrande and try to change the skin font to Lucida Grande

Binary's had a play with the ttf and managed to get it all to work with it, but he says, and I quote, "it looks all thin and manky"...

What I may do, then, for those people who feel the need to have a "thin and manky" font on their system, is release duplicate versions for use with the ttf. Happy now? :6
