hmm, does WMP's skinning engine have "Inactive Buttons/Widgets" ability? if so, does this skin have it?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by this...

Hi Steve,

I think cooky is refering the way certain visual styles/window blinds themes/osx theme deal with inactive windows.

Under these conditions when a windows does not have the focus of the system, ie. The mouse focus is somewhere else, certain elements of a skin/visual style/theme are dimmed to indicate this.

A perfect example of this is if one is using Three Drives Panther visual style. Using this visual style, if a window is inactive, the title bar is dimmed and flattened as well as the traffic lights (the min, max and close buttons).

Under OS X and iTunes, when iTunes is not in focus, the traffic lights dim and I think also the play buttons, but I'm not sure on the latter.

I hope this helps.

Grusic

P.S. Great job on the skin for WMP9. I eagerly awaiting its release.

Thanks for the clarification Grusic...

I'll have a look into doing this, and see if I can come up with anything ;)

On neowin.net exist a topic in forum about skining that part of WMP 9 and some guys are make some skins for the bar minimalization.... and it's work good!!

OK, I've had a look at this thread on Neowin, and I've come to the conclusion that I don't want to delve into DLL hacking - I'm not willing to mess about with my DLLs for WMP (or for anything other than UXTheme, for that matter), and I wouldn't distro hacked DLLs anyway.

Good idea, though. :)

Hey Stevie BM fantatic looking theme..

I dunno if this has been covered before but does it save the layout, thinking specific menu widths etc when it is closed down?

Previous iTunes skins seemed to have that little problem..

It hasn't been covered...

It saves everything I could think of

  • Browse pane visibility and height - if you close the skin with the browse pane hidden, and re-open the skin and then the browse pane, it'll open to the width that you last had it
  • left pane visibility and width - as with the browse pane
  • Window height and width
  • Album art visibility - album art is resized to be a square at the bottom of the left pane at all times
  • Song display/bar display

Stuff I'm going to be adding to the list of saves:

  • Visualisation visibility
  • Current player mode (when I implement miniplayers)

Release date update:

I don't think I'm going to make Monday - I'm going to try my hardest, but I've got a heap of uni work to do this weekend, so that has top priority. If I get that done tonight (which I hope I will be able to), then I've got Sunday to work on this, which may or may not let me get back on target for Monday...

I'll keep you all posted :)

There's no need for that.

If people start flaming/arguing in this thread, I may decide not to release anything.

/me punishes all for the mistakes of the few

TRUST ME - IF I FIND A SINGLE FLAME IN HERE AS OF NOW, I MAY CONSIDER NOT RELEASING THIS AT ALL

That's not to say I don't want constructive criticism - just don't flame each other

I think you misunderstood...

I was implying that my skin isn't just the best iTunes skin for WMP9, but the best iTunes skin ever...

I don't really believe that - I think everything that's been released before has it's own strengths and weaknesses in comparison to mine...

At the end of the day, I'm stuck on a lot of problems that other people can likely solve, most of which appear to be based around the fact that WMP9's SDK is akin to a steaming bag of horse pooterminology>.

I have, however, set myself limits and bounds - in this first (and possibly last, depending on how I feel and what I want to do next) version of the skin, I've limited myself to using raw JScript and WMP SDK... I could start doing things by calling external applications (which is how I was going to do CD ripping et al.), but that could end up getting rather messy.

Oh, and another thing to bear in mind everyone - this is my first ever attempt to skin anything, and I'm very gratful to Binary for all the image work he's done... If it weren't for him, this skin would never have gotten past my imagination. He's been my inspiration and driving force throughout.

Cheers Chris. :shy:

#55134

very very cool, however, one problem...

tries constructive critisism...

on the right all the way on the end, there is a problem with the brushed metal, the lines dont match and are offset, you might want to look at it, before you release that is...
