Aqua-Soft Forumsi am not talking about what their intent was, i am talking about their features, and if you use them correctly, how well it looks to the os x dock. though objectdock's goal is not to emulate 'the dock', thats what we use it for, no? and y'z dock is better suited to have the options you need to make your dock look like the os x dock, objectdock, doesn't have the things necessary.

So basically what you saying is:
Objectdock, which is not meant to emulate osx does not emulate osx and Y'z dock which is meant to emulate osx does it better than OD
And you need 10 points or more to say that!?
It's like saying nAmp is better than winamp since it looks more like iTunes!
What I can say is that Y's Dock is better than OS X Jaguar own dock itself.
I've recently start to work with both systems, I've been a PC user for a long time but always a mac lover, and when I stepped in front of this fantastic Apple Power Mac I thought my computer experience would change forever.
But that was not what happened. Since I'm using Y's for quite a while on the PC the first feeling of the Apple's dock is a kind of going a step down or even two. For all the reasons already mentioned here. That's why Apple stopped the development of Y's Dock.
Y's Applications are a serious threat to all Apple Operating Systems has it can change the Windows XP System into a better OS X.... and with all the visual styles and tweaks definitely PC's can work better (more user friendly) than Macs...
But then Macs are physical beautiful and there's also software you can never emulate... but that's another story.
That's why i like Windows so much, it's so ugly you feel the need to modify it and that is keeping creativity alive!!!
With a perfect OS all those modders, skinners, developpers and so on, Heck that whole community would die!!!
Apple killed a large fraction of creativity by killing Y'z dock...

Oh, now come on. There's plenty of skinners for OSX.
You guys really sound desperate to rationalize why Windows is better than OSX.
I'm not saying it's better than OSX, it's different!!
OSX is pretty nice in itself, not very useful like Windows is but pretty nice
Now we have a useful OS that needs a liftup...

I love Linux as much as Mac OS as much as Windows...
They're all three different experiences that generate different needs...
One of the major need of Windows is the need to make it look nice.
This whole community is based on a beautiful OS customizing a very useful but ugly OS...
The OSX team spent countless hours on making Aqua as beautiful as possible, no wonder why it's so damn interesting...
this community is a "working company" in itself, it is working on visually improving a OS to make it more appealing market-wise.
Man, if it weren't for legal issues we could make Zillions out of that....

Oh, now come on. OSX isn't just eye candy. Its plenty "useful". I know lots of professionals who use Macs, and our school uses them, and im productive enough.

It is indeed not just eye-candy, my film editors use a Mac with OSX to do their work... It's much more safe.
But you have to admit that its a hell lot more eye-candy than Windows...
With their poor attempt with the Luna style, i mean come On!!! They are stuck with their ugly gray buttons for the rest of their lives!!!
Even the new "so good" Longhorn still has that ugly Luna which had a color change.
OSX is a pain for me regarding accessibility...without the dock it is so annoying to get what you want!!
OS9 took me a good 30mins to find a decent music player!
Plus the use of that option button and so on!
i have to say Aqua was more intuitive but still the 2 most useful and intuitive OS are Linux and Windows by far!

I dont know,.. I reckon Luna's icons are more ugly than the style itself. They make the style uglier. I hate the icons, but not necesarily the style, I think it has a robustness about it. Change the icons for aqua, and it's not so bad. And ofcourse change the caption bar size back to 18 (from the unsightly 25), and it looks ok.
I think Luna's alright, that shade is blue is acceptable and works well with some wallpapers. And it's better than olive and silver color scheme. XP's icons is the thing I couldn't live with! (after I first tried Iceman's system files) :rant:

depends on your computer, your gfx card, your requirements, and most of all your personal preference.

I must say, after trying OD .99a, I think I'll stick to Y'z Dock. Y'z just runs so much better and has so many more features. I'm sure some day we will all be using OD. Jeff B. is certainly doing an excellent job, but OD just isn't quite there yet.
Y'z Dock is perfect... BUT one more thing.....
Playing Full screen games like Command And Conquer Generals when the mouse goes on bottom, the screen will be back on the desktop showing the dock.
I DON'T LIKE THIS :rant: . If there is a way to turn it off, then Y'z DOck will rock forever!

@jed - Look for a batch file that shuts off dock - runs game. Then when the game ends it starts the dock again.
