Yeah, i remember those days.... When all we had were a HTML dock or and DesktopX dock... Man, they were ugly... and fake...
Well, i'm pretty happy with my OD now, don't have anything to complain about. Whatever. ![]()

hehe yea... those html docks and flashdocks...
who could forget. Aqua Modding sure has come a long way huh.
one thing not good about object dock a lot of times hwen u move mouse away from dock it stays expanded.
also like yz animation a lot. it kewl how it expands and junk. too bad it dont haeva taskbar tehn it would be 1337
some of the reasons in the first post like :
8. Can change the indicator (for programs) easily in Y'Z dock, with ObjectDock you have to replace the existing file.
7. Can change the poof easily in Y'Z dock, with ObjectDock you have to replace the existing file.
4. Y'Z dock has sensitivity and delay time for auto hide. ObjectDock does not.
2. Y'Z dock can have separators wherever you want, ObjectDock cannot add separators.
n in albiek's post can be added in one update as they r not that big a deal but i dont know y OD hasnt implemented it yet.
OD version 0.95 is like Y'z 0.60 or something ![]()
but OD also has its own plus points eg: dock enabled taskbar, some find it faster etc
just my 2 cents ![]()
ObjectDock = suck and suck damn 2 much my Ram  YzDock rulez 99% like a real MAC OS X thing :surfer dude: !! AND IT'S FREE 2 but ObjectDock charge u ...suck!!
Personally I prefer the look and feel of Mobey's, it's smooth and fast and accurate. Operates well under load and DX 9 cures a number of problems beyond MobeyDock. My whole setup has been better since the introduction of DX9. Oddly, Y'z is the only one I've never really used on a regular basis. It was always too slow and jerky. The docklets are occasionally useful but not a deciding factor. Seperators are a non-issue with me. So it comes down to which dock performs best for me and it's Mobey all the way.
I look forwart to trying out the new OD when it arrives, I wes sad to see the demise of Y'z even though I don't use it... it still had the chance to be fast and furious with the right tweaks, but alas it was not to be.
after Yzdock my second favorite dock is Moby's, Mostly because of its smoothness and its layout. ( apps | task trash) but the thing that turns me away from it is the icon appearance on it. For some reason, the icons look blurry and compressed compared to objectdock and yzdock.
I completely agree with this guy, if objectdock worked on adding these 2 their dock it would be the best ever, i would also like to move the trash can on to the same side as the tasks so its like a real mac
ps thanks for making their thread it should tell objectdock guys what we are looking for

1st. objectdock is FREE!....and you'll never have to pay for it.
Yeah YZ rules 100++% more than the osx dock.
but moby is 100% it.
I think Max is confused: ObjectBar you pay for, ObjectDock is free.
I cant even say which is better, between Object Dock and Y'z Dock both have features I love so I alternate. For 1 Object bar does have the ability to show taskbar applications and its very stable. Y'z dock is easier to configure and has a couple of more options plus docklets. Both work great and do there job 100% People really need to stop complaining so much and need to stop saying either of them suck cause they dont. I come to realize that people arent gonna be satified until they buy themself a mac

Hey max, welcome to the board.
You're comments are great, (expecially your nice grammar
), but Aqua-Soft is looking for more Positive comments. ![]()
If you want to say "This product sucks", contact Microsoft. They seem to handle complaints real well! (or blame on another company).
Uh, what did you say?

next time you talk like that and you're suspended.
have some respect otherwise you'll be stepped on by a very smelly foot full of pus. :goku's job:
Anyone who has actually used osx knows that it's not even close likeness wise.
Mobydock is the clear winner if emulation is your goal. That being said yzdock is great too if you don't need a task bar. If moby can iron out the few issues and and improve the dock items being blurry for some people I think it would be perfect. yzdock also has problems with games like quake3 for example flickers the whole time. Mobydock does not.
well pack, whenever i play a fullscreen game anyway, i close my dock, i just want the game using the system resources, so i close all of that anyway.
ps...thanks and sorry goku for moving it!

ROLF!
Yeah thats for sure ![]()
peace
y'z dock is the winner period.. :who's your daddy: got a problem with that? :who's your daddy:
hehe hugo, btw, happy birthday!!!
I'm a power user, sadly I have not (for now) money to spend buying top new hardware (I was at the top when bought my pc).
MSI KT333, AMD Athlon XP 1900+, 512 Mb DDR PC2100, ATI Radeon DDR Vivo (7000), AGP 4x (of course), 80 Gb Raid 0 (7200 rpm, ATA 133), 60 Gb (extra hdd, 7200 RPM, ATA 133). WinXP Prof SP1, DirectX 9a. Catalyst 3.6. As you can see not bad at all BUT.....
This is my point of view:
Y'z vs. OD. vs. MobyD
Best usable performance:
- And the winner is OD.
- Moby is hardawre accelerated but in the time ATI drivers sux, ATI users like my are fu...d <_< . Another BIG trouble in Moby is the fact that autohide it's not configurable, so I can't use this dock in hide mode because the delay is so long, and I need the entire screen to work.
- Y'z is more accurate, more useful settings, docklets... but again, PERFORMANCE is the trouble in my hardware config -> 32 fps so it's unusable in extreme circunstances of intensive hhd use and/or video.
Obiously all this docks in companion with: Y'z Shadow (I have performance down with WindowFx) Y'zToolBar, Volumetray, some dlls and apps skinned, VisualStyles...
Usability:
- OD offer Task, Y'z doen't and Moby's is unusable for me as described above.
- OD in combination with Shortpopup rox. Again, Y'z have this option already enbedded with a penalty in performance for me.
I think that the goal of skining and look emulation is the usability with more efficient and useful options all in balance with the fidelity, in this case with MacOS X. ObjectDock represent those things for me, in the time I can upgrade my PC or buy a real Mac
With a new pc who knows.... maybe I change my mind (Y)

Yes I got a problem with that.
Yz bogs down the 3 computers I am running here. The longer I use YzDock, the slower my computers become. I have to restart everytime.
Yz doesn't show minimized tasks and the tasks docklet doesn't cut it because it slows down some more and takes eztra clicks to restore the app.
Moby Dock is the closest in terms of look and feel of Mac OSX... but Moby runs too slow on all my computers too. And also gets even slower and ofte hangs the longer I use it
ObjectDock runs fast and very well on all the computers. Even a friend's measly Pentium 133 with Windows 2000 runs well enough to be usable. Never did ObjectDock hang on me. I leave the computers running 24hours/day 7days/week and I never have to restart.
In my line of business, Stability and speed as well as simplicity of usage is an important factor. ObjectDock does very well indeed and is the clear winner in my book.
What's the point in emulating when you can do something better????
The 3 main docks were all based on OSX dock and followed a different path creating each a unique program in itself.
They all tend to converge towards the same functions which are not available in the "real" osx dock.
I personally prefer Mobydock. Few people know Mobydock's future as it is of Moby's way to release its dock when it is not expected.
And as of Objectdock, Jeff is using a very nice commercial path which is to create a dock for Windows. Unlike Y'z dock which was headed to OSX emulation.
We have 3 very different docks for different users with different needs.
Comparing these docks seems useless to me since they are all too different from each others. It's like saying ICQ is better than Outlook... They are both very different programs even though they are based off the same concept: communication.
.
<_<
Very well said Magnolium!

I agree with you.
but wouldn't you say communication is a little too broad.
maybe something like ICQ or MSN or AIM is more like it.
however the two programs icq and outlook have different goals... (the word 'communication' is way to broad)
icq: instant messaging
outlook: email
unlike these...
mobydock: dock
objectdock: dock
y'z dock: dock
(note they all have 'dock' after them)
these programs are different, but they were created because of apple's os x dock. these developers would have not come out with these programs if it weren't for apple's os x dock...believe it.
another example...
pepsi: cola
moutain dew: citrus
mugs: root beer
they have different flavors, but we compare them anyway according to our likes...
They are all based on the Mac dock indeed and that is exactly my point. They were based off the "mother" dock and flew by themselves. When you wanna compare 2 or more elements, you have to base your comparison on a solid fact or a goal on which the products were created. You can compare the world's fastest cars because their goal are to be the fastest but you can't compare the world's fastest car with a bus since the bus' goal is Not to be the fastest
and that's exactly what my point is.
Your are comparing 2 docks on their emulation to the "mother" dock when their goal is not necessarily to emulate the "mother" dock...mostly Objectdock since they clearly stated that it is not what they want!
IF objectdock does not want to look exactly like the Mac OSX dock then what's the point in saying that Y'z dock emulates more the "mother" dock than OD????
OD's essence is NOT to emulate!!
That is why i said comparing these docks are useless since their essence is not the same.
