Thanks for Win+D. I really love this hot key.

When drag & drop files:

- hold shift key will force move.

- hold alt key will force make shortcut.

- hold ctrl key will force copy.

In Firefox: ctrl + f opens up the search bar to find text on a website.

In Mac: command+shift+4 allows you to take screenshots of select areas.

In Vista: Hit the Window key to open the Search Bar. Type cmd and then hit ctrl+shift+enter to run the command prompt as admin. This is useful if you want to launch apps from the command prompt as an admin.

In XP: Go to Run and then type eudcedit to open a small character editor.

EDIT: Oh, and in XP/Vista: Window key+M brings you to your desktop but still displays things like the windows sidebar, any desktop widgets you have, desktop calenders, etc. Windows key+D just shows your desktop and icons.

or, instead of dragging with left-button, drag with right-button and on release get a short popup menu "Copy Here, Move Here, Create ShortCut Here, Cancel"

In Firefox: ctrl + f opens up the search bar to find text on a website.

In most Firefoxes, just pressing / (forward slash) will bring up a search bar on the bottom of a screen, and type in the portion of text you want to find.

what's the terminal command to make a .folder?

would that require sudo?

#468014

what's the terminal command to make a .folder?

would that require sudo?

mkdir (and then the name of the folder, of course)

It won't require sudo unless you're trying to make it inside of a folder with restricted permissions...

Hope this helps,

-NC

#468016

shift + click on minimize to see disappearing to dock in slow motion

Actually, that's one of my favourites, even if it does get a bit annoying from time to time. But it can be used basically anywhere in the system where there are animations (minimize/restore from dock; Exposé, etc.)

#468052

@casasX & gnomexp

The longest word you can type on one single row on the keyboard is TYPEWRITTER

#468055

@Coldwerturkey: All words that can be typed in a single row:

TYPWRITER

EUROPE

POWER

TOY

GLAD

QUIT

QUIET
