Your top 5 favorite operating systems
:slant:
if you still use that.....then you need to get out of the dark ages.
lol...... Windows 3.1..................
ahh good times...
PS you arent serious are you?
1.Ubuntu Edgy
2. Windows XP Pro
3. Debian
4.Tiger
5. Windows 98
I dualboot Ubuntu and Windows XP,and love it.
well...maybe W98 isnt completely useless, but it is more or less a brick. they have a windows 92!!! at my library
, it has like...64MB ram and a 5GB hard drive lmao i love giving it viruses and such and see it try to fight its way through it all... ![]()
windows 92 huh?....whatever. i dont even recall that OS.....and i work at MS....weird.
i haven't tried 5 operating systems...or have i?
1). XP, since it does everything without crashing.
2). Ubuntu, since it does many things without crashing.
3). 98, aah good memories
4). Vista
5). Windows 3.1
and i suppose tiger, when i try it everywhere...
there is no such thing as win92, its called windows 3.1
by the way applethink, my isp is not easynet, danasoft sucks ![]()
same here. never heard of it at all actually.
EDIT:
LMAO!! that annoying little sign was actually wrong!! HAHAHAHA!!!
and trust me, XP does NOT do EVERYTHING without crashing.
Ubuntu does 99% of everything without crashing. Meh.
EDIT 2::: I THOUGHT SO, BUT I WASNT SURE!! MEHHAHAHAHA I WAS RIGHT!!
'bout to say.........and i doubt you use Win3.1 anyway. i would shoot myself.
I'd install TinyLinux instead..............................I hate 3.1... *pukes*
so, lets hear it from an employee of MS. do u prefer Mac OS X or Windows?
eep.
dont tell the Boss.
If your comparing Windows XP, then i like Mac OS X better.
If your comparing it to Windows Vista, then i would pick Vista.
But then again im pretty much brainwashed to like Vista arent I?
lol. yea TinyLinux is even better than 3.1. and thats saying something.
Nice, an MS employee at AS. Now rjohnstone has somebody to help him fight the Apple fanboys ![]()
hmm. i see that most people either use mac, windows, or linux (well....what else is there?)i was just wondering....what POPULAR operating systems-Linux and Unix included- are free to download?
i have this spare drive sitting around and i want to experiment with other OSs with it...
a BeOS clone. I think there's an amiga clone too.
Also ReactOS if you like a windows clone that can barely run notepad.
#1 Windows XP Pro SP2 - Personal use/coding
#2 Redhat Enterprise - Home network server/fileshare/media station
#3 Darwin - Home router, repeater DSU+CSU (Yes I have fiber network)
#4 Mandrake 10 - just love the interface and usability.
#5 Knoppix - for my war driving/laptop
I run my own business out of my home, so I use fiber lines(1gb/sec down, 100mb/sec up) so I have to use alot of nix boxes, Windows just cant handle network operations that large.
lovely! Fiber net....sounds fancy.
lol yeah i guess it is a little ironic....a MS employee. Man, i feel like im betraying my country!
im guessing this "rjohnstone" is a Windows fan, huh?

In my opinion, Win 2K Pro was a very under-appreciated OS. For the longest time, I loved it more than XP. I only switched to XP because of themeing and alpha masks in icons. If it weren't for those two things, I would definitely still have Win 2K Pro as my main OS, even though it's old. It did what you wanted it to do, and efficiently.I've stuck W2K as second mainly because it was nearly bullet proof, for me anyway. I personally think MS peaked with that one, everything else they're doing just seems to be in making the OS pretty and less functionally.
I liked Jaguar because of the sounds. I miss themwhy do you like Jaguar more than Tiger? you cant get barely any software for Jaguar anymore....even iTunes!
1. z/OS
2. Tiger
3. SUSE
4. Vista
5. XP
I chose z/OS because without it, we would be back in stone age..
interesting topic....
1- Leopard *(to be)
1- Mac OSX Tiger (latest) OR maybe Vista Ultimate
2- Vista Ultimate OR maybe Mac OSX Tiger.
3- Windows Media Center (WinXP Pro)
4- not that these really matter but....win 98
5- DOS.
No.1. and 2 I could Not decide.... I believe leopard will be better than Vista, but vista almost beats Mac OSX (yes I said that!).
I put OSX tiger first because all my "stuff" is sorted in itunes and iPhoto... and I only use Vista for gaming, but I can see its a nice OS, the explorer IMHO is better than finder itself... but its other programs are not as good as iLife IMHO.
theres inconsistancies in Vista tho which bug me, and bits of XP scattered.... sorta or something...
Oh loverly Jaguar... I started mac emulation on my windows box thanks to the Iceman... Now i'm on mac it's damn tiger... doh! I have a jag theme for shapeshifter but it aint as good as the iceman's jag.
@bh2: install Bootcamp, then XP then you can fully enjoy iceman's jaguar on it
:D ![]()
ain't it beautiful?
Heh... I've still got the win box 'running' Jaguar... superb. Also my son has an old iMac 'Grape' so I go and look at that from time to time.
1. Ubuntu (stable)2. Debian (testing)
3. Windows 2000/XP
4. TOS/GEM (Atari ST)
5. MS-DOS 6.22a
omg! my first computer was an atari 520st upgraded to 1mb of ram. yes, 1 mb! no hd, only floppy. and the ram upgrade was a cut and jumper job with the ic's piggy-backed. couple that with my supra 2400 modem, and i was flying through the bbs superhighway!
best game ever? deflektor on the atari! second? tetris on the gameboy!
