Yeah, you should do that for fun, not for forcing the devel to get his app out in no time.
As nightcrawler said, "it may be irritating to see something that hasn't been released", just think that it's even more irritating for the developper that uses his free time for a freeware to see "This guy" (Using This Guy in uncool, you should adress to the developper directly if you have something with him) and "so that's no longer an excuse"
BTW, i'm still in need of an GFX artist so I can release mine 
, the Artist will have access to the betas.
