Thanks Ppoppe for the guide. I have a strange problem with the timestamps. I tried changing in "incoming timestamps" and "outgoing timestamps". Both fonts are set to Arial.But, I get all garbage/ strange ASCII characters for the timestamps in the IEVIew window.
@kiran: what language are you running in? Do you have some sort of strange interpretation problem perhaps? If not, I have no earthly idea what could be wrong....
@blaze: mebbe try options -> message sessions -> messaging, at the top is an option called "automatically pop up window"....

sorry, I had forgotten I switched messaging plugins. I use Scriver, which has the options I was quoting. Try these:
options -> message sessions-> message windows -> tabs and layout = "automatically pop up"
options -> message sessions-> message windows -> containers = "use single window mode"
These things really aren't all that hard to find, just poke around in the options for yourself and you'd stumble across 'em sooner or later...

Language is English (United States). Date format in control panel is set to hh:mm:ss tt 
@blaze: if you don't want it to say that at the top, use a different skin, or hack the html, that's the only option I know of

I have a little problem with miranda in general. When i have a chat session minimized and i click it to open it again it fades away and clicking the taskbar doesn't help bringing my chat window back. I have to use rightmousebutton and choose maximize. I have this lots btw.. Is this normal?
What other programs do you have running? (like RKLauncher or Objectbar or Objectdock). What plugins are you using (ieview, etc)?
I'm having some problems.. the ieview is not showing up on the list where where i'm supoosed to enable it
which list? where did you install it? Are you sure the ieview.dll file wound up in the plugins directory?
Thank you soo much for this wonderful guide!! I could never get Miranda to look the way I wanted. I just seem to have one problem. I cant seem to get rid off the status of MSN and AIM on the bottom. The scroll bar looks a little off as a result as well. I know it must be something I did wrong, I'm just not sure what.EDIT: in fact I wouldnt mind getting rid of the scrollbar all together
I also noticed that I couldnt complete one of the steps in step 4
For some reason I could not uncheck "collapsed" because it would not allow to select it. It was faded out in the menu. I'm not sure if this is the cause or not.

RK Launcher, avetunes, avedesk in general, ultra_modern skin for miranda, smoothoperator ieview plugin for miranda.
@bmn: the status bar may also disappear if you just select "visible" but unselect "show status bar." That way, doesn't matter if it's collapsed or not.
@fliz: not sure what the issue might be...do you have RKLauncher set so programs minimize to it? I don't know why that would make a difference, all I know is that I have never had that problem, so I don't have any idea how to fix it.
Naah.. It's not RK Launcher.. Hmm, strange problem Ah well, gonna have to learn to live with it
How do i see other people profiles? tried right clicking and selecting show profile but it just takes me to wa webpage saying "the requested url was not found on this server"
I don't think it works in the current version of the AIM protocol...
OK, I started to follow this tutorial, I did all the install steps, but the one problem I had was that clistmodern came with 2 versions, a unicode, and a something else I cant remember that starts with an A version.
so which one do I use?
When I used the unicode version I Got this error message when I went to the Options --> Plugins:
And when I use the clistmoderna version I get the error when first starting miranda, and again when I got to the plugins.
what am I doing wrong?
I would try reinstalling Miranda. You need that dll for anything in Miranda to work, not just the contact list plugins.
I completely uninstall and remove the Miranda folder before making every new attempt.
and the dll woks everytime until I put in either one of the clistmodern files.
only thing i dont do between installs is clear the registry, but considering it works as long as I dont have the modern contact list in I wouldn't think thats necessary.
EDIT: I downloaded the dll, and it doesn't show the error now.
however the clistmodern.dll doesn't show up in the list of plugins, so I cant click on it.
even though I clearly extracted it into plugins, and can see the file in there.
Try using this version of clist_modern and see if it helps any:

what should I be using, the ansi or the unicode version? i used unicode most of the time, but also tried ansi.
