RK Launcher 0.4 Beta

difference? according to stardock site, some dudes work more on 3D part of it... while some on 2D... but hey, they have there own stinkin reasons! I hate those driver writers @ nVidia... don't think they even know whats going on over here!!! I'll send them link of this thread :)) even you all nVidia dudes do the same :)) who knows, they might do something ;) otherwise we can always end up sitting in out chair doin' "grrrrrrr" :D

That's a no go, particularly on my system. Upgrading the drivers didn't work. I downloaded the most recent, and got a nice "incompatible hardware" message, then it exited. Now, how do we increase the speed of the Aladdin effect? It speeds up on the lower half of my screen, but is a slow as molasses at the start.

Certain applications such as Winamp do not always minimize to the dock when another window that is larger than Winamp is present - what happens is a copy of the "face" of the program is made and put into the dock, but the program is still on the desktop. Repeatedly clicking "minimize" spawns more and more "ghost images" in the dock. These ghost images can be clicked to maximize the already present application

How to re-create:

1. Open Winamp (default or skinned)

2. open any other window and make sure it is larger than winamp

3. click on Winamp -> minimize

System: AMD 2500 / WinXP Pro SP2 / DirectX 9c / Radeon 9200 & latest ATI drivers

Amazing work bro!

#324190

QUITE IMPORTANT

:D

for all those who, like me, don't have state-of-the-art graphic hardware on their machines, there is now a software DirectX implementation. You can download a demo from transgaming. You need to put the dll file in RkLauncher (and AveDesk!) folders and you will be able to enjoy the AladdinLamp effect :) [and Flip - not Close at the moment]

Being a software implementation, speed and smoothness will be proportional to the speed of your processor ;)

Nice job ;). Awesome work--check my newspost if you want to know more of what I think about it.

First of thanks for a great dock Raduking. The Aladdin Effect works fantastic here. It seems to minimize just like my wifes mac which is about 5 feet from me. The CPU usage goes up to 47% which is quite acceptable.

I am really pleased with the "Exclude" feature being implimented. Now I don't have to worry about Outlook minimizing to the dock and having it crash when I cant restore it from the Task bar.

Thanks again Raduking,

AdverseYaw

System:

CPU: Pentium 4 3.01GHz

RAM: 1 Gig

Video: ATI All in Wonder

Direct X 9.0c

Edit: I am using Firefox 1.07 and have seen no problems.

OMFG!! Thx to dreadnaut I'm experiencing part of the AladdinLamp effect. Radu you just made my last six months! :)

Basically, nVidia doesn't really care for 2D rendering. Their drivers particularly as well as their hardware just aren't geared for any sort of 2D DirectDraw support. This is a problem that's plagued WinFX for years.

Raduking, I suspect that if you render the genie in Direct3D mode, but just a flat polygon, it'll run like a dream on nVidia cards.

I LOVE this update, though Raduking, AWESOME, AMAZING job!!

Hi!

Your RK Launcher 0.4beta is bery wonderful!

This program is expected to spread to the user in Japan.

I want to translate this program into Japanese.

And, I want to distribute it as a difference patch.

Of course, I know this program to be a beta at present.

I expect to be pleasant you and to approve it.

the aladin effect is already being rendered with direct3d. DirectDraw has been obsolete for some years now.

Ave knows what he's talking ;)

#324364

Now that makes nVidia bad in 3D? or 2D Desktop?

#324365

Ave knows what he's talking

hmmm, guess you're saying we're done here and this won't be solved! OK people NO more word and stop asking Raduking Sire to do anything about it :))

Eh eh, i thinks radu will not surrender so fast, trust me ;)

EDIT:

with a P4 2.0 Ghz, 1 gb ram v-data 2100, GeForce 6600 GT and beta driver 81.84

the genie effect works fine, yeah, it's a bit laggy..but it's awesome! :)

If he does not have a Nvidia card how is he going to fix it....

#324452

Is it possible to remove the taskbar applications on the rklauncher bar so that they load normally on windows taskbar? It's just a personal choice..I would prefer having them on windows taskbar..

#324463

in settings-behavior, uncheck minimize to rk launcher

#324468

thanks hahaah I should have verified, I could have figure this out myself hahahaha

eh heh, okay, I learned DirectX like 6 years ago and haven't touched it since, so I'm a little out of date. :P

#324497

If Radu doesn't have an Nvidia card, how about we all donate $10 to him so that he can buy an Nvidia card and look at the issue :P

#324521

cool program

Yeah well, I would love to have false hope but :) get real man :D Even the sources are closed :D I'm out here... ok will be back ofcourse

#324605

hehehe, the thing is I will try to test the genie on my friend's nvidia and I will try to fix it.

I dunno how much it will take...

I even think of making the aladdin effect open-source... maybe some of the DirectX geeks will solve the problem faster than me :)
