Dashboard WidgetDock

SioSae

I'ved formated my HD. And now OK.

:)

#316275

just to report, my laptop, which ran widgetdock v2.6 with close widgets enabled as expected, (If a widget was open, clicking on the widget's icon in the dock once more, would close said widget) now has started crashing (konfab & widgetdock) as per the behaviour of my home PC in the above posts.

In simpler terms... was working fine, now doesn't :(

regards,

#316457

Is the widget-not-clickable (in Konspose mode) bug fixed already?

#316514

@firecracker6

your report makes the whole "feature" more strange. unless konfabulator doesn't support the com interface we must accept that wiered behaviour i think. unfortunately.

@S@m

what bug exactely do you mean. the one where the widget is set to be in konspose mode only but if you enter konspose it looks like it is on the desktop, exiting konspose will hide it? they said it will be fixed in a next konfab release.

SioSae

#317004

yes, exactly.. thanks

#317005

SioSae, it's good to hear from you. This is one of the most exciting developments to follow at present and I hope you still have some treats to suprise us with this useful dock :)

#317034

SioSae, It's very cool!

But... cross button is big for me. How to make it smaller?

#318692

Right click and enable resizing then you can grab the dock and resize it.

#318740

hello again,

had a little outtime

the cross cant be resized at the moment, it will stay at its original size while resizing the dock.

@ghostwalker

could you please try to test the dock on a mac, in konfabs widgetgallery someone (Carl) posted a performance problem he had using more than 6 widgets. that would be really nice.

will finish the next version in a couple of days. new features will be a movable cross and different screen border positioning and maybe some minor more.

#318978

There is been a long time since I letting you know anything about how the new version is going. but today its time to release the pre final version 2.7 of the dock for first comments, suggestions and last bugfixing for the official release tomorrow.

here is the direct link (it will be updated on the mainpage/osx-e.com and the widgetgallery as soon as the official release is out, thats the time the automatically update check will work too):

WidgetDock 2.7 prefinal

and here are the main new features:

movable cross/wheel:

- move it by simply drag and drop (no key press needed, the widget will know if you click or move it)

- open dock by clicking the wheel/cross

- set the wheel/cross to its default dock position in the context menu ("Set Default Cross Position")

two screen positions (top and bottom)

- maybe the top mode only works on windows (haven't checked it on a mac, but maybe there widgets cant be shown on negative vertical positions)

- toggle screen position in the context menu ("Change Position on Screen to [Top|Bottom]")

set custom vertical offset for the dock

- enable the offset mode in the context menu ("Vertical Offset Mode")

- this mode will automatically replace and disable the resize mode and will be controlled by the same arrow control in the middle of the dock

- simply drag and drop the control to move the dock up and down

- the vertical offset mode only works for the bottom screen position

enable/disable automatic check for updates

- you can enable/disable this feature in the context menu (last entry)

widget manager ist resizable now

- drag and drop the resize field in the lower right corner of the widget manager to resize the manager

- there is still a minimum size of six entries

- implemented this because of ...

... manually sort widgets in the widget manager

- in the widget manager you can simply drag and drop any item to a position you want

- it only works in the visible items range, so please resize the manager to get a bigger view

- the sort of items (any kind of sort) will now keep the actual scroll position

drag and drop an item into the dock

- simply drag and drop a widget, folder, or application into the dock

- the item will be added the position you dropped it into the dock

please let me know if there is anything wrong and didn't work. there are so many new things maybe i forgot something to test.

#327895

OMG. Sweet! nice work, first thing I test when I come home

#327925

What a treat SioSae! You just made my day! Any time frame for a WidgetDockMod version or are you waiting on the final release for it?

#327948

they will be released the same time. i just wanted the bugfixing with one version instead of having two (maybe) buggy pre-releases out there.

for now, i will release both versions tomorrow.

SioSae

#327957

By the way, did you ever discover a fix to the crashing issue regarding closing widgets via clicking on their icons in the widgetdock (After being opened by the first click)?

#327969

@SioSae glad to see you are still around my friend will test it out real good for you.

#327986

@firecracker6

no, sorry i didn't and gave up on this until a next release of konfabulator is out. maybe they will release a com interface or it is not so buggy anymore.

@ghostwalker

thank you and you will get my mail with playlist support today (if still needed)

SioSae

#328143

@SioSae ha ha ha still needed but if I had a choice of getting it or seeing you back in action working on widgets I would rather see you and your wonderful widgets.

#328152

decided to release the version. its up on the first post. automatic check works too and direct you to the new version.

fixed some minor bugs and changed the handling of the "manage widgets..." icon if you move the cross to the right screen border.

have fun with this new release

SioSae

#328242

Thank you again, for all your hard work, will install it when i get home :) With all the different version installed, is there anything you'd recommend to clean up a bit? Or are all the releases self contained for the most part?

Thanks in advance. Also, any news on the release timeframe for the WDMod version?

#328245

of course i hope only the newest version is needed because of it has all the features the older ones have and should be without critical bugs (at least as stable as the previous version) but to be sure you could leave the last version installed.

the versions are self contained, maybe share the same configuration file if you set it so.

the WidgetDockMod will be put into the update procedure of the widgetgallery today. maybe it will take some time for them to test it before release the update. normally this take a couple of days.

SioSae

#328363

there is a new version available (v2.7a) wich includes two minor bugfixes:

- on top screen mode the dock/cross handling while resizing wasn't working (because not implemented, ups)

- widget manager scroll bars react wired on screen position change, so the widget manager will be disabled if you change screen position

SioSae

#328429

Did you remove the context menu I dont seem to have any in the right click. My bad you just moved it.

#328640

because the cross and dock are seperate windows now, the context menu is only available on the cross window. haven't add it to the other windows but maybe i should do it to avoid looking for it like you did.

#328656

i wondered that myself but found the right-click menu soon enough. I think that for usability, i like the separation of all the general dock related context menu items from dock entry specific customization options... if you aren't averse to revisiting the layout of context menu entries, maybe place icon/entry specific context menu items on the dock and keep general dock entries on the cross?

#328735

did it already and will release an update on monday. is the rest working well?
