[release] Multi-Plugin 0.66 Beta - iTunes 4.9 compatible

judge - does iTunes quit only when you are in Party Shuffle, or does it happen in any playlist?

taijutsushinobi - just delete the QT_004 file in c:Program FilesiTunesSkinsMac OSXExtended.

Gutty - it could be done in an external program, like AveTunes.

I've been making a Siro skin (for personal use), it looks ok so far and works fine, but when selecting a different playlist, it crashes iTunes. Any ideas?

Thanks! this nice

I've been having trouble with the last couple releases of Multi-Plugin. It's driving me crazy, 'cause once you use this plugin, it's hell to live without it!

I just upgraded to iTunes 4.9 and Multi-Plugin 0.66 (?) from http://lhsite.pimme.nu/files/Multi-Plugin_0.6.exe. iTunes is skinned and shows the Artist/Track info in the Taskbar, but I can't get ANY of the M-P preferences to "stick". No matter what I set, it doesn't work. Most importantly, I'd like to change back to the default skin (hey, I have a Mac at home, and this is no Mac!) and get rid of the unstable "Welcome to iTunes Multi-Plugin! Click here to check out the extra option" title bar. Every time I click in that my cursor goes crazy and it's nearly impossible to get it back on the screen again.

To summarize:

  1. How come my M-P prefs don't stick? Do I need to purge an INI or registry entry somewhere?
  2. Could you stop using the unstable cursor-manipulation when clicking in the title bar?

Thanks! I really appreciate this plugin and am looking forward to using it again!

A little more info. I installed this on a second PC (Windows 2000, also) and have the exact same results. Certainly makes me wonder if there is/are any "old" info/files around from the previous M-P installs?

Also, the cursor manipulatin is only "unstable" if I try to fight M-P for control of the cursor! If I let it do it's thing, it seems to pick out the Preferences menu item just fine.

Why do I keep getting a "Setup Error"

"Setup was unable to patch iTunes. Click Finish to exit Setup."

Is there a special place to launch the multi-plugin exe file? I've had success putting the dll file in the iTunes plugins folder, but my version is 0.5.2.0. Where can I get the most recent version of the dll?

#298580

Hi !

The MP aren't working for me either. Localhost, to reproduce the problem you may want to dowload AutoHotKey here and create a script which looks like this

Browser_Forward::Send, {Media_Next}
. Or anything instead of "Browser_Forward"

I use this (no MP on my computer) and MultiPlugin fails whereas with iTunes 4.8 it worked perfectly...

NB: I haven't tried the dll stuff from iGo...

Does the developer template that created when you dump the resources makes this problem too?

If so, try removing some of the files in it's Extended folder, like I explained in the help file. It could easily crash if those files aren't deleted.

If it's only your skin, make sure you saved all the bitmaps as 32-bit ones, especially the QT_xxx ones.

hypert - A couple of users with Windows 2000 reported this IIRC. One day I'll find my copy of Windows 2000 and test it ;)

Try closing Y'z Dock or any program that could use iTunes.exe.

that's, again, the multimedia keys problem :/ I'm working on it.

That´s the way to do it, but if even this way the cursor "escapes" to the botton of the screen, just close iTunes using the keyboard and in moments mouse get´s back to normal again. A good way to avoid the problem is just to go right to the preferencs (using the menus) avoiding clicking the bar... once you gone to the preferences in the normal way, the bar get´s back to normal.

Deleting the QT_xxx files I'd not modified worked, no more crashes! Thanks for that!

Try closing Y'z Dock or any program that could use iTunes.exe.

I closed AveDesk, Windowblinds, QuickTime and then went into TaskManager and closed nearly everything that was not a vital system process (at least as far as I could tell). I still got the same error as before.

help?

#298748

I have this odd titlebar bug. It happens everytime I minimize iTunes to the tray and bring it back up. The "Windows" titlebar goes away if I resize the window or switch to the mini player and back, but it shows up again after I restore it from minimizing from the system tray.

Well I've uninstalled it for the moment but yes, I was using party shuffle. I don't know if it happens in any other mode.

I thought I've fixed it a long time ago. I'll try to see what's wrong now.

Odo - Do you have write access to iTunes.exe? Did you modify that file in some way?

Qweedle Guy - Could you post your process list? I don't have that issue.

#298759

localhost please make multiplugin for quicktime 7

#298761

localhost - Process list as in the Processes list in the Task Manager? I never had this problem before this version.

Here's an image of my process list. I didn't feel like typing it out :P

Thanks, but the first part of my post explains that I can't get the Title Bar to go back to "normal" mode, nor set ANY of M-P's prefs. M-P appears to be fairly broken on Win2000.

A side effect of never getting the Title bar to go back to normal is that everytime I click on it (like to move the window!), my cursor tries to highlight the Prefs menu item. Of course, since I was using the mouse (to move the window), I end up fightly M-P for control of the cursor, and everyone loses.

I've had to de-install M-P until it gets fixed for Win2000. Does it work for anyone on Win2000?

I haven't installed the QT7 preview for WIndows (I have it on my Mac, though). Are you telling us that once QT7 is thrown in the mix, M-P breaks? You're using iTunes 4.9 and M-P 0.66?

#298776

Igor K - Do you mean skinning QT7? I'll consider it after it's fully released.

Qweedle Guy - I see you have many customizing programs open. Maybe one of them is causing the problem. Try closing each one of them and see if you still have the problem.

If you are having problems with the multimedia keyboard go here:

thanks crxmen.... that works like charm. Although it required MMkeys.dll (Global MultiMedia Keys) by LocalHost.

Cool Things !!!

I wonder what other WinAMP plugins would work with iTunes... :D

write access? don't know about that. The read-only flag is clear. I never tried to modify the iTunes.exe in any way.

I got the same error trying to use your multi-plugin v0.6.5 on iTunes 4.8 a couple weeks ago, so that is why I searched for the old .dll and installed it. Now, I'm still getting the error with 0.6.6 and 4.9.

localhost PM'ed me and was able to provide a registry patch to get the basics of M-P working in Windows2000.

So, I "did the right thing" and PayPal'ed him. Given all people who've expressed so much thanks for his hard work, I was surprised to hear I was only the 2nd one to do so. C'mon, send him $5 or $10 - he works hard to update M-P with new features and to support all the new iTunes releases. You'll feel better, too!;)
