Ok here's the deal. I will definately implement this into MSN Desktop Search. Howerver, I cannot find a way (as of now) to implement the search outside of the deskbar. So if anyone can find out a way to use it by directly typing something into a browser.
Example: 127.0.0.1/search.axsp?k=My+Search+Here
This is all i need to get this working. Or if anyone knows where I can get the SDK for it or some sort of XML output that would really be all I need.

OK, apparently, in the current Beta there is no way to actually return results from the search. I found out a way to Hack the deskbar and create a query, but it only returns the results in IE as opposed to an actual interface.
I cannot view the source of the results page (probably because it is some sortr of integrated Explorer interface) so I cannot do any scraping to build a results list. However, I just watched an interview with the developers of the software and they said the next release should support an API of some kind. Good news for us!
So for now, I will continue to integrate it into Google Desktop Search. If anyone can find any info about returning results of any kind to an application by all means post it here, I will try my hardest to implement it into a build and get it working.
Until then, sorry guys, I work with what I can get. *shrug*

Ok, finished writing up the theme file and decided to release a sort of Skin Studio so you guys could start designing some themes while I finished up.
The XML should be self explanitory. If you need help with anything feel free to post a reply in here, I will be more than happy to help.
Also, in order to create transparency in your image, use the following color.
RGB(212,208,201)
That might get changed in the future so make sure you save your originals so that you can chagne the transparency color.
How to Use:
Left Click on the icon in the taskbar to hide the window.
Right Click on the icon in the taskbar to quit the application.
It's good, but your choice of axis origin is interesting. It seems to be some random point in the lower right portion of the screen, not even the exact corner. I would make it either the upper left corner or the upper right corner.
Also, changing the text Searchlight in any way seems to mess up the color, and make it blue, despite all the values being 255.
Lastly, in your sig, it's spelled development, not developement.

You may also want to look at Beagle. It's a cross platform open source Indexer: http://www.gnome.org/projects/beagle/
It has a Windows Port, and you would only have to develop a frontend for it. There's a complete framework provided, with a few GUIs already written.

This depends on your theme, a current problem I am having, just change the offset in the theme file (you can use negative numbers) to fix it depending on your theme.
Also, changing the text Searchlight in any way seems to mess up the color, and make it blue, despite all the values being 255.
There are two text fields, a main, and a shadow. You must change both properties to coincide with eachother. THe blue you are seeing is the shadow that makes the text have a styled look to it.
Lastly, in your sig, it's spelled development, not developement.

What is your process called? Searchlight.exe? Mine seems to be quiting just fine.

Ok Copernicus is an application on its own. Since it is not using any web interface it will be really difficult to actually get the results from there. Maybe we can get a hook into the application sometime in the future, but as of now, I don't think its a really feasable option.

Hey if I could get you guys to post screenshots of what Searclight looks like running on your system that would be great.
I think I am gonna have problems with peoples different themes etc. So I wanna see if I can get that worked out.
Some problems [or for me, atleast]:
When I type something in and hit enter [or wait] nothing happens.
Also, it is low on my screen. Is there any way you can edit the theme file to get it under my taskbar? (My taskbar is on top)

Copernic is a pretty slick DST, I used it for a while, but you should try msn, it's really good (for a MS app). And it searches as you type in the Deskbar, whick Copernic doesn't.
You should give it a try anyway!

I used to use MSN desktopsearch beta but it seemed 'fatter' and a bit more resource/process hungry since ms got ahold of 'lookout,' and made it into it's current MSN counterpart... I do like MSN's version though, so it would be nice if we could figure that one out

To move the window up or left just edit the theme file. Change the
depending on what you need. You CAN use negative numbers to bring it to the top of your screen.
Yeah, I know you can move the offset, it just seems that the default offset should be where it is in Spotlight OS X.
Yes, the process is called Searchlight.exe. Oh, and I'm using a PM2k5 (MsStyles) theme.

Ok looks good. I am going to make a theme editor in the final release that will let you move the window, change text, etc within the application.
