[wip] Searchlight :: New Application

Today the idea for Searchlight was spawned.

What Searchlight will feature? Well, It is going to be based on the Google Desktop Search technology so it will have lots of room to grow as Google develops their client. It will display the results of your search results in a handy drop down window allowing you to further browse the files in an extended view or even display the results in your favorite browser.

Currently I’m just trying to get the framework developed. I already have the layout completed and I am happy with what I have. It is fast, clean, and uses low resources.

Completed:

- Tray icon completed

- Left click now brings up Searchlight “Search” window

- Layout images completed and loaded into window (theme support coming soon)

Working On:

- Basic search parsing and result display

- Handling of toolbar on top of screen instead of bottom

Ok folks, after a long awaited time, I am now going to show you some progress in Searchlight.

The results engine is not completely finished so the Fonts, size, position, GUI of it all is not completed, I am just working on the framework for now to get it started and running fast. I also need to finish making it load the file icons into the results window. Then I will begin work on the "See More Results" window that shows the full search results.

Completed

- Live searching of your entire computer

- Skinning engine

- Taskbar Icon

- Searchlight remains on top of all other applications when taskbar icon is clicked and stays until it is hidden

- Speed enhances and extremely low CPU usage

- GDS Framework Incorporated and fully integrated

It is just a matter of me going through and tweaking the little things and the GUI of the results window then we should have a decent build. Here is a little teaser for you guys.

See I told you I wouldn't let you guys down.
