It's not just 'screaming'. If you can't feel the rythem to that kind of music fine, but others do and like it. Your most likely in the older age bracket, or you were brought up around softer music. Hard Rock is my generations type of music, therefore I grew up with it and enjoy it. The drum beats and guitar driven chords are what we like, and it just gets your adrenaline rushing, and makes you feel good. Plus alot of hard rock has great lyrics, lyrics that make you think. Not just mushy love songs or brokenhearted music. System of a Down is a good example of a band with great lyrics, and a great message. They are anti-government/anarchists, and they spread the truth about what goes on behind the average joes back. I wish more people would listen to SOAD and realize just how f***ed up the US is, and also the many other so called democratic countries. Anyways, I cant speak for all the hip-hop punk rockers here, but I just love the music and the lyrics!
And adema just kicks major ass It's actually one of the only albums I've bought and liked every song on it. Good bang for your buck.

Sorry for the sarcasm, but I just dont consider System of a Downs lyrics to be all that deep. I mean, compare them to THE BEATLES.
I dont really think that SOAD's lyrics are all that deep either (good music nonetheless...)
If there is any deeper meaning, it's coincidental.
Listen to 'Deer Dance' I'm sure you'll find it is quite deep and relevant to the ongoings in the world atm. I'm sorry if you only listen to their mainstream songs

maybe you can't appreciate it cause that isn't punk.
(except maybe for sum41 but as buddyhead.com says under their worst albums of the year article and i quote "It was bad enough when we first heard their songs. Then we found out they're from Canada. This band is the reason it's embarrassing to call yourself "punk" anymore.")
punk is not the kinda crap with the pointless screaming and rapping. The music listed there in your list is rapcore or modern rock or as i would put it POP.
punk on the other has is fast, with few screams and is often sang not rapped. And depending on the type of subgenre, punk can be melodic or hardcore.
i think the only reson people listen to crap like linkin park is cause it's popular. "hey i saw them on mtv thus they are cool." what a bunch of mindless f**ks.
The main reason i'm ranting here is cause im pissed at sum41. those ****s are playing here next week with no use for a name. now, now no use for a name is a awesome punk band but wtf??? them playing with sum41??? and those bastards (sum41) managed to jack up the ticket price to $45!! and you know what's worse? no use for a name is just the opening band... not the main act! come on these guys have been around for more then a decade and they are opening for a crappy mtv playing amatuer band?? that is totally wrong!!
anyway, to anyone who cares... i just went to the millencolin show last saturday. they played with rufio and 10 foot pole. man, it was the best damn show ever.
