As you read this I will be on my way to the electronics store to buy Half-Life 2. I've had it. I can't take it, you don't understand. I have wanted this game more than anything, ever. Think of the hottest, nicest, girl you've ever known. Now combine that with a Ferrari and a Lamborghini, and then turn it into a video game. That's what Half-Life 2 is. Not buying it is a sin, and should be punishable by law.
I will still get the system files done on time, don't worry.

Oh and I bought the collectors edition, with the t-shirt and all, plus it comes on one dvd instead of 5 cds. Yes I know in most everywhere but the US it is coming on one dvd, shut up.
Anyway, the game rocks and looks so gorgeous. But I'm putting it down for now so I don't go through it too fast.

Here's what dissapointed me...
The t-shirt I got free from EB-Games is an XL >_< (and I'm a little guy :-P)
The game takes a full minute or something to finish loading and get to the 'main' screen.
The retail version didn't include Day Of Defeat: Source...
I'm just going to post a blank post to try and bring the weirdness level of this thread closer to 0...

Bwhahaha, I'm just loving this game more and more as I go along. The level Sandtraps is both hard, and requires a certain amount of ingenuity to get through. That's what I love; a Thinking Man's Shooter.
Simon, I finished Ravenholm this morning. That level... is so freaky. I was playing it last night at 2am with all my lights off... and had to quit because it was driving me crazy, lol.

Yeah, that level got to me too. The first time a "howling Poison Zombie" came towards me I was scared ****less. I just shot it over and over again, even after it was dead. :slant:
Btw guys.. do you get occasional sound stutter? theres been some complains by lotsa players :slant:
benchmarks dictate i shd be able to run pretty much any level of the game above 60fps on high settings (on an athlon 2500+ and 9800 pro) @ 1280x1024
hmmm is 512mb of ram really that insufficient?

, just a bit skint at the mo. Anyway, don't know if this helps anyone, but over at tweakguides www.tweakguides.com there's a Half life 2 tweak guide in progress together with Half Life 2 small tweaks for people who experience stutter in the game. However, all you lot are prob Tweaking fanatics and prob already know about this site already

Thanks for the links folks. I'm on a P4 2.8, 512MB RAM and a GeForceFX5500 256MB, at 1280x1024 with settings either at highest or medium, and it runs like a dream. I still can't say this enough; Half-Life 2 is the greatest game ever made. Perhaps the greatest thing ever made by human hands. Keep an eye out on my Blog for a full review

Sure, that should run it reasonably well. My rig is quite similar, and I can run it at near full settings.
Yeah I've got a 2.53ghz o/c to 2.7ghz, with 1gig of PC3200 ram and a Radeon 9700 Pro. I have all the settings to the highest possible with 2X Antialiasing on and it runs almost like butter, and my rig is 2 years old.
That's quite an example of how well the game is designed when it runs so well on high settings on modest machines compared to what's available now.
