[Release] Classic Pinstripe for Firefox/Windows port

Due to popular demand Aronnax's Classic Pinstripe has been ported to Windows by yours truly (again). What more to say? You know the theme, you love the theme.

Thanks to CodF4ther for his help with porting the theme.

Windows port features:

1. Works with Firefox 0.10-1.0+;

2. Compatible with the latest nightlies;

3. Mail button support in both big and small icons modes;

4. Integrated compact menu icon in both big and small icon modes.

Known issues:

1. Missing arrows in the Bookmark Manager. Will probably be fixed soon.

2. I haven't tested it with TBE. I don't use TBE and I'm not going to in the near future, so if you encounter any issues with this extension - sorry, you're on your own.

3. Some strange incompatibilities between the theme and UndoCloseTab extension. Probably won't be fixed for I haven't the foggiest what's causing them. Known workaround: do not use the mouse middle button to close the tabs while having this extension enabled.

0.7 update:

1. Fixed findbar issues with 1.0 milestone;

2. Toolbar and statusbar are now skinned by the visual style;

3. Fixed bookmark favicon issues.

0.7 minor update:

1. Fixed Bookmark Manager arrows issue.

Please note: this version is not compatible with 0.9+.

Please note that due to Aronnax's request both themes (Classic and Graphite) have been renamed.

excellent work, do you need a mirror for it?

#222909

Oooo... Awesome!

Been waiting for a good Mac Firefox theme for 1.0.

#222910

Thanks, mirrors are always welcome. PM me, I'll modify my post.

#222911

looky here

Now this is what I call: 'strange'. Is your compact.jar hacked/modified in any way? Try uninstalling the extension and installing a fresh copy from here.

Hello! I Come with the fix to the compact menu extension problem and something else:

To fix compact menu, go to C:Documents and SettingsUsernameApplication Data (sometimes hidden) Then just click on the leftmost folder until you get to a folder with a ton of files in it. Open the extensions folder. Search each folder (just use Search) for compact.jar. Once found, open it with WinRAR.

In that jar file go to skinclassiccompact. Once there, make sure FF is closed and drop in the sharc-2-8.50 png file.

Now for the other thing. I dont know if the half-way throbber on the right side annoys any of you, but it annoys me. Search for Pinstripe.jar because I dont want to type all the above crap again. Once found, open it, go to globalicons. Drop in the second file.

As beautiful as your Graphite port. Kudos to Arronax for the theme and thanks to you for the great job porting this.

#222973

I'm having problems running it at all. Does it need anything else to work?

#223029

Great looking theme. Thank you for porting this.

Could you be a bit more specific? 1. Are you sure you downloaded the correct file (pinstripe.jar)? 2. What build of Firefox you're using (User-Agent string, preferably)?

I use Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040803 Firefox/0.9.3

And im quite sure i dl the right .jar.

Unless the link up there isn't yours. :)

#223259

WFM, provided the alt property for the image has been specified in the code.

#223295

I missed this theme so much... thank you.

No need to patch my firefox to make it working, excellent!

Lovely Pinstripe is back :cool:

But is there any chance to make the (background) color of the navigation and menu toolbar the same like my title bar?

#223571

for that, look for a theme called metalxp. it's the same as pinstripe but a grayish type background instead of white

My current theme is "Tiger" and want to use it further on :confused:

I changed to a different XP theme, and the background is still white. So I guess is has something to do with this FF theme. Right now, this theme looks perfectly "integrated" with Windows XP when I use Milk.

Can't I manuelly change this by editing userChrome.css ?

#223577

not your xp theme, i meant firefox theme... it's made by a member here Relativity_17.

#223578

dono if anybody finds this usefull, but i have the magnifing glass thingy for google search

google.gif

its exactly the same size, shape, and placing as the real deal.

just place it in C:Program FilesMozilla Firefoxsearchplugins and hit YES to replace the other one.

Okay, i'm relatively new to the firefox scene. I have downloaded the file pinstripe.jar, and i've got it on my local hard drive, i can extract it and see the differrent folders (browser, global, etc) but i don't know how to install the theme. I'm using Firefox 1PR, so i know that i've got the right version here, it's just a matter of installing this theme correctly. Thanks for the help in advance!

#223684

you don't need to extract the file to install it. Open the themes window (tools->themes) and drag n' drop the jar file onto the list of themes. Restart the browser and you should have it as an theme option next time you open the window.

#223688

nevermind, well said above me

#223689

Thanks guys! Lots of help, and the theme looks great :)
