Has someone tried to install it with the home edition?

And if yes, how did it work?

#216136

i installed in on my xp home edition, and it crashed and i lost everything. but that just could be becuase i have terrible luck with these things.

#216138

I have tyied this, but it made me disappointed~~I hope that the Final version can give us surprised!

Thanks for your reply grim53!

You've saved me a lot of trouble!

I am a little bit fed up with all these reformatings I have to say

#216544

Use System Restore, no matter how bad it botches your installation you can easily revert all your old system files and never have to re-format. Simply create a restore point before you install and if something goes bad, restore back to that point. It's that easy.

Unless you can't boot into Windows period. Since system restore is GUI based, you have to be in windows to use it.

Still a good idea though. I did that when I installed this. I thought the pack sucked, and restored back to the previous restore point.

And I have to agree with the comments on the previous page, this pack didn't impress me. But that is my personal opinion.

Still, it deserves a "Pat on the back" for all the hard work and effort that went into it.

#216591

I agree with the previous posters, the pack seems to have too many dependencies on other elements like WindowBlinds. As other suggested, once I installed the pack evertything got quite big for my tastes of minimalism. Improvement wise I would suggest making the fonts regular instead of bold, and changing icon spacing. Also the original Jaguar folders icons look kind of outdated.

To let the developers know, the installation went smoothly, but uninstallation didn't quite work. System restore refused to bring back the old files (it said system cannot be restored), despite the fact that I created a restore point right before installation.

Luckily I just had to do a repair install of XP to get all the original files back. Took an hour or so, no biggie.

its that easy....... NO IT ISN'T! my system didn't boot up, not even in safe mode. so how is the restore point i made gonna help me.

just so people know your always gonna run the risk of seriously f'ng up your system, so make sure u have your windows xp install cd's ready before u try this or any other system file mods.

and BACK UP YOUR WORK.

I might say. Norton Ghost.. But if your not sure of what you are doing.. better leave it alone..

#216953

Is it possible to "extract only" this pack, ala Flyakite???

#217354

I don't think so...

#217363

@twinkikabuki

some installers can be opened using winrar - i haven't tried out this TransPack or it's installer, so I can't be sure. Just get the latest version of WinRAR (it usually works for me :))

#217443

Can't you run System Restore from boot if you have a bootable CD? I'm pretty sure you can...

#217832

Is it possible to "extract only" this pack, ala Flyakite???

Can't do it

#218049

Is it possible to "extract only" this pack, ala Flyakite???

Yes, pleeease make "extract only" possible (for batchmod and other languages) ...

Can`t wait

#218051

I am running SP2 Professional English version and it worked great just liked it was supposed to! Thank you so much for all of this hard work! My PmaC is almost complete. One glitch... the bootscreen didnt install, is a boot program required to make this work? Is it possible to skin the logon logoff dialogs when you are part of a domain?

I would try iut with the german Home-XP-SP2, but I need the option

"extract only" to use BATCHMOD. Danimator, please try to use it for

people with other languages ...

(or share a RAR-Version with sys-files only, without the exe)

Thanks alot, keep up the outstanding work !

#219155

It looks awesome man, I can't wait for the final release. I can't do a beta because my prebuilt came only with a recovery partition, so I'm a little worried about trying it in beta right now. Wonder if I can still get my sibling/parents to use the thing if it has an OS X look??? They can get over it I think. ;)

#219469

I decided to reinstall again, and before I did that, I figured why not, and upped to sp2 and installed the beta.

Everything works perfect, and as for the decision to make the bootscreen for BootSkin, ingenious.

Everyone wondering, don't be afraid of this.

One small problem though, my display properties window is a little funky.

I have block buttons and the bitmap on top is smaller than the span of the window.

Sorry, no screenshot, I can't get lower than the 57.1kb required.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanx Dan for such a remarkable pack, even for beta, it is extraordinary.

#219607

Oh yeah, does it work with XP Home SP2?

#219924

Danimator told me that it doesn't work....

XP professional only...

#220080

How about the scroll bars?? why my scroll bars not like the Preview?? why? and how to aplly that will make my Scroll so nice???

Thanks

#220109

GOOD.very nice!

i have being waitiing for a long time!

now,wo wonder when and where should i be able to download it!

ican't wait any longer!

#220156

as a self-appointed unofficial beta-tester, here's my report:

installed and runs without a (major) hitch. only 5 issues i see so far:

1) boot screen did not install. (i do not run stardock's logon manager, so i suspect that's why.)

2) 'ms shell dlg' had to be updated manually in both places.

3) my 'common tasks' area in windows is gone and i can't get it back. (bug? by design?)

4) 'changing style' dialog is blank.

5) in general, the font looks kinda cruddy .

overall, though, a fantastic piece of work. thx!

edit: oh and here's a really weird one: i had to re-import everything into itunes. but, i have a seperate partition (d:) set up for docs & settings, so that may be why.
