Do you guy think Sasha's MINIUM Pack will only include 3 Icons ?
Do you think he need so much time for that, there will be many more icons included, so wait for the REAL release.
Lou's icons looks nice, but everyone with photoshop skill can do that. I have done that too, but i would never show them on screenshots or act up with them.
I think legal terminology is causing the issue to be misunderstood on a number of fronts. As I understand it and from reading Duckie's History series and Deadzombie's similar post, we have an obligation to try and protect the little guy, the artist, the single individual who CREATES not for profit but for his own passion and for that of the community.
This obligation to protect does not however filter through to companies/corporations that produce something for profit, such as Apple/Microsoft - frankly, they can watch their own backs and don't need protection from the customising community - who more often than not they consider as little more than a side-show.
I must admit, recently I feel a bit disorientated in this community, as some releases have blatantly used images from artists that have expressly denied permission for their work to be used.
btw, back on-topic, looks good Lou! - I think you should put those amazing talents to producing a unique style of your own so that you get the recognition you so rightly deserve.

What gets me is, everysingle person here does the same exact theme with their whole desktops. Lets ripped apple off. So lets all just drop it.
If the creator of those icons has a problem he can notify me and I'll be happy to remove what he/she/whatever asks.
He did not distibute the icons (from what i can tell) he just remade them BIG DEAL. You guys remake aqua crap all the time, he's using the **** on his desktop! I think its time the kids goto timeout.

ughh, i dont even really want to reply to this thread, as I kind of agree with everyone on this issue. There are so many different levels to look at and its hard to say what is what.
I will say this however, @DZ and Timan, first I just want to say that I highly respect you guys, so please don;t look at this the wrong way, its just an open discussion with different opinions.
Anyway, there are a ton of conflicting things going on here, for starters, Timan you keep mentioning the apple thing and how we are ripping apple. Yes, I think we all know that very well, But I was alos under the impression after DZ's long rant when he first returned a few weeks ago, that AS.org didnt stand for corporate bullying and that in fact this site was about protection the rights of individual artists.
Yall, seem very selective about whose work you protect, and whos you don't. If a VS was released with with ideas ripped from someone elses VS, the thread would be filled with questions about whether the person had permission.
No granted, Lou did recreate these by himself, and he has not released them (at least publicly) yet, by allowing this thread to stay open, you are encouraging the ripping of original work, and again I will say that this work has not been released and I commend lou for being better than that.
By allowing this thread to stay open you are saying "look you can rip anybodies work and show it off here and its ok, as long as we like you as a member, if your new or we dont like you, than you better not try and open the thread"
I also mentioned in the DT post section how one month people are not allowed to display unreleased or disallowed things in their screenies, than its appropriate.
Timan, your response was it depends who is enforcing the rules, well I think that is why there are some problems here and there, because of that, people view it as favoritism.
I'm not knocking anybody here, its just an open discussion, which i think we need to have on this site once in while so that everyone understands what is going on.

I agree with you on closing the thread. It all depends how you look at it. I respect the works of the original author, but if he is not distributing them, and using them himselve I really do not see a problem.
Anyway topic closed.
