[release] Flyakitesp1 V6.0

wats up with ur site flyakite? is it just me, or is it down?

#198309

Great job agian. I really like the volume button in this version. :D

One thing I would like, maybe it just didn't install right on mine, but to have OSX sounds for closing and minimizing programs and such would be great, but this is amazing as is :D

It is just you, I just checked and the site works. ;)

#198598

flyakite.. excellent work as always..

but in the very likely event that i need the catagory view for control panel, can you tell me the registry key i have to change to enable that?

#198599

I have a couple fews problems:

in some programs, if I use to to browse and open a file, the program close automatically. (example, On SouLseek, to chose a saver folder, I press the "save folder" button to chose a dir, and it closes by itself)

some programs didnt install wen i ran the pack (calulator, some other thing in th accessories folder.

Control Panel isn't like the pic. Some go to Windows default.

pLZZ help me!!!

#198622

you want to know something, i didn't really regard it before, but i saw a problem with this just a few hours ago... i installed a video codec id app and when i went to go browse for the video file, the app kept shutting itself down and killing the process. also, when i went to install the divx files, those didn't install right and i still can't play those types of videos...

coincidence we both had this? not sure at the moment... don't know if it has anything to do with this pack.

i'm going to keep playing with it to try to get it to work, more likely tomorrow, it's sleep time for me.

#198624

er...............this program rocks! really, free, good-looking, and stable, but there is only ONE thing that's bugging me because after i installed the dll files, i can't click on load for my word office applications, like openoffice or atlantis because if i click on save or load, the program crashes. i think it is because comctl32.dll is currupted or something. not sure. great work flykitie!

#198629

Great work. I encountered no problems with installing and running the package. All works fastest and smooth.

What I don't like only, are the mouse pointers, that I changed.

Keep It Up.

I get the same Soulseek error! Ahh I wonder if this has to do with the files or if it is a Soulseek bug.

I also get that same error for reshacker, looks like the comctl32.dll is fuxx0r3d to the max.

#198655

so. how are we going to fix the bugs? when? how? where? i'm a noooooobie and i have no idea what to do. i can't do my homewrok because of the loading problem. one solution i found is that wordpad still works with the loading. so i converted all my homework into rich text format. but, i would be greatful if this annoying bug i can't fix can be fixed. :(

Why dont you lock yourself up and then rant. This is considered harrasing the devs.

I have the same problem mentioned above I posted it here but no response as yet, the problem is with Divx, Quicktime, Objectbar (add program to exclusion option). When you try to navigate the Exporer window through "Open" option within the software it crashes back to desktop, I can't save Quicktime videos off of the net either in Internet Explorer the player crashes when "save Movie" is selected. No one seems to know what's up.

The same here (since 6.0) with all graphics (jpeg, bmp, gif), "right click, save as"

and IE crashed and Opera crashed by "save as ..."

For those who have issues with the mod pack.. perhaps a little more info would be helpful for Chris to access your problems... did you follow the install instructions... e.g. Windows XP SP1 with Updates before you installed? Do you have a custom language? Is Net Framework installed? Any other things...

I tested 4 beta versions of Version 6, I had one issue with a dll, my fault, and an issue with having a HT processor, if you run XP Pro, it loads a multiprocessor kernal, not a single processor kernal... you can't use the bootscreen, other than that, you should have no problems if all updates are applied for XP SP1.

Does anyone actually read the READ ME before installing?

my 2 cents worth

I`m just "export" 6.0 and used BATCHMOD for my german XP Home SP1

(all updates). Now I`m back on another shellpack and nop crashes any longer.

Every time, with all apps (Opera, IE, Acdsee) when I try to browse through

my folders (save as, search, load at) IE or Opera, ACDsee crashed. Looks

like that other apps (postings above) crashed too, Quicktime and others ...

No problem without browsing through my folders ...

Sorry for my broken english ...

what do you consider a crash?... your bittorrent client not openig up automatically? Don't you understand, Internet Explorer gets replaced by the mod packs version, a simple reinstall of your bittorrent client should solve the problem

I have a similar problem with media player, once reinstalled, it works like a dream.

I consider a crash when you try opening up a program and it gives you some error

and NO, I dont understand...but thanks for letting me know if there

is a problem I just need to reinstall each program...if that was in the

readme...then i apologize for my stupidity.

#198820

well unfortunatly i have to take back my last comment.. this program ruined alot of things on my pc.

When i installed it, only a few things actually installed, so i did an uninstall and removed it all.. but unfortunatly that didnt work, so i'm left with a bunch of items still from the package, and my IE is now all messed up, i cannot save any picture from a webpage, i will get an error saying IE must close...

No thats not slsk. I remember it happened until I installed danimators pack. It has something to do wit some file but not slsk itself.

#198840

Okay I've been looking through the posts here and I think most of the problems everyone is having with the crashes is related to comctl32.dll.

My suggestion to everyone is find the normal comctl32.dll (not comtle32_1 or anything like that) file in the backup folder which by default is "C:\WINDOWS\_BACKUP" and replace the one in system32 with the backup.

Unfortunately I'm in Sturgis, SD at the moment for the bike rally and only have access to the net via my iBook hooked to my cell.

When I get back home in about 12 days I'll look into the issue more and do a little more testing, and if needed I will release an update to the program.

Sorry for the problems everyone but try the thing with the comctl32 first and see if that solves it. When I get back I'll definitely try to figure out what is going on and do what I can to release an update or patch.

It's just part of modding your system files... Media Player for example, if it's not the "right version" it just refuses to open. I always keep a downloaded copy of it on my machine to reinstall after each mod pack update or install. I had to reinstall BT++ to get it working again, a few minor links do get broken here and there, but on the whole they're easily "fixable" on the assumption that you know what modded system files "can and will" do to your system. No mod pack is ever perfect, everyones machine is different, same with their software... I try to look at it this way... If the machine is stable, and it doesn't happen on every program, I just reinstall the programs that I have issues with, and 99.9% of the time... everything is oki doki afterwards...

With such a big transormation pack, I try to do a clean install of XP, with updates, then install the mod pack, then load the programs again... and I've personally never had a problem. I know it might sound a bit of pain, but then again, you are replacing an awful lot of native files with modded ones, try a clean install... :)

#199063

thanks for this great work Flykite. I have downloaded / installed and im grateful theres an option to choose which mods to use instead of installing all at the same time. I would just like to know if you can have an option to your website, if someone dont want the full package to just have seperate downloads of each classifications ( dll, exe, cpl, misc. ) so it wont be hard to get for some who has slow connection. thanks

Superb job on the Installer! :)

#199083

@DeanoBear63,

Ya I followed the instructions exactly, I am fully updated, I am on right language, and I have .NET. Also I think a lot of other people did the same thing. This is definately a problem with the system files. Everyone is experiencing the same errors so thats like saying everyone here is doing things wrong. I been beta testing and giving suggestion to Chris for awhile and pretty much know what is going on. So telling people already the obvious really isn't doing much. I have yet to try to what Chris suggested and I plan to do that soon. I think that is our best bet so far.
