My main computer is effectively dead. I will give you an account of the steps to its death.

Previously, the only mods were Y'z dock and a hacked UXTheme.dll.

I installed Flyakite under custom and had it do everything except the boot and kill screens and other little things. It failed to install the explorer.exe and a few other files (like Access Wizard).

After the computer restarted (yes, a restore point was created), I was unable to access the start menu or the help and support wizard (I.e., no access to system restore). I got to the control panel and uninstalled Flyakite (and all of its files).

Now, whenever I start my computer, I receive a black screen where a login should be along with my cursor. Nothing else.

My startup sequence is as follows...

VAIO Welcome

Brief Second of Details

Windows XP Startup (I.e. bootscreen)

NOTHING!!! (where a login screen should be)

I NEED HELP!!!

I use Windows XP Home SP1 on a 2.3GHz Pentium 4 Vaio

#197960

Woot...at last ! Thanks flyakite. Will try it at home.

#197973

There is something like...batchrestore.txt that you can use I think.

Right flyakite?

#197980

No, there used to be something like that, but that feature no longer exists because there was issues with it.

The following info I will post in the FAQ section on the bottom as well:

If you can't get into windows after restart or uninstall, try this:

  • Using your XP cd boot into the recovery console (If you don't know how, GOOGLE) or if you know how to do it using Safe-Mode use that method
  • Once in the console you should see a prompt like C:\WINDOWS
  • type "copy c:\windows_backup\logonui.exe c:\windows\system32" without the quotes. If it asks you to overwrite say yes
  • do that same thing for the following files:
    shdocvw.dll
    shell32.dll
    msgina.dll
    ntoskrnl.exe
    comctl32.exe

If that still doesn't work then at the moment I don't know what to tell you.

HOWEVER: In one users case, the installer alerted the user that his OS language was not English, and highly recommended using "Extract Files Only" and using batchmod to mod his own files, but he did not.

There is a reason alerts like that are put into place people. Pay attention to them please.

Great work Flyakite, I love the website and the hard work & dedication you've given to produce this out-standing pack :).

I thought I'd help mirror the pack here - FlyakiteSP1 v6.0 (Unlimited Bandwidth)

It should be fast to d/l with any luck, now I'm off to enjoy the pack :D.

#197984

Thank you flyakite!!! My boot CD didn't allow access, but the website I googled showed me how to create floppy boot disks in order to resetup XP.

Computer FIXED!

Could I get a list of all of the files replaced by flyakite? I'm transfering over original files from my other computer.

EDIT: List is on flyakite's webpage

#197993

Would like to congratulate you on another successful set of system files. Everything is working for me and I am loving it. :D

Also FAQ is well done on webpage, covers a lot of questions and is very helpful.

#197994

Fantastic, thanks for share (dl right now) ...

Is it possible to share "only" the files (in a zip, rar-file)

without the exe-file ??? Would be great ...

;)

Great job, thank alot!

#197997

just do an extract, that would be the same as releasing it as a zip file

#198000

How can I extract an exe-file ??? :(

Thanks in advance, can´t wait to use it with batchmod (in another language) ...

#198003

Run the installer. On the components page, choose the "Extract Files Only" install type. Click next. Choose the folder you want to extract the files to. There you go :)

#198006

I really like your redisigned website. Too bad this doesn't work with sp2 yet :(

#198011

Everything works and looks great, except, when I go in to Display Properties to change my wallpaper, the computer always switches back to the Windows Classic theme instead of the Windowblinds theme that was already set. Any ideas of what I should check ?? Version 6.0 beta worked great and I didn't have that problem. I appreciate any help, Flyakite.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

if you mean 1 specific file, then no, that you can not... if i'm not mistaken, though, chris designed the installer to extract the different types of files into their own folder... so if you extract all of the files into a folder you called flyakite, you should come out with a group of subfolders something like this:

flyakite

--EXE

--DLL

--CPL

etc.

It should work just fine with XP SP1 Home.

It's basicaly the same as Pro, minus some advanced networking features.
