Today I solved the problem of invalid icon exporting when image had semitransparent areas. The resulting icons had those areas darker than they should be, because old algorithm drew the image over black(!) background and after that made it semitransparent. As you may see in attached files, in my current build the problem is eliminated.

Wait for a release, please. It will be given out as soon as I will make a proper ICO importing routine, which will allow to open alpha-blended ICOs.

Long live the amateur iconinsts' brotherhood!

RIMMER. As You proposed, I'd like to continue the topic... (for those, who don't follow - It's about combining/overlaying large (256X256; 256X128 etc... generally, anything with 256px size) images...

Actually, to be exact, the mighty WinXP supports 127x127px icons, 128 is 1px over-the-border...

I dunno why they choose this size, not universal 128px...

...........simply to be difficult and stubborn would be the answer to your question! I hate it too....but hell they wouldn't want to cooperate with us now would they??? Rimmer.....what's the approximate release date for the latest version of Iconstructor??? I absolutely CANNOT FREAKIN' WAIT!!!

Should I include 127x127 icon rendering instead of 128x128? Or maybe make it as an option?

Cant tell, Natedogg, cant really tell. I'm busy now, Im at work right now and my boss is sitting right beside me and criticises my current activity.

#268327

Rimmer, I just pointed this pure nonsense... I can't understand it, maybe size 128X128 so much reminding to OSX's Thumbnails, so they wanted to be oRIGINAL with their own?

And absolutely - please - do not change anything! And forget about "127X127" option :D

I didn't mentioned that... Basic size is 128x128 & AMEN! :D

#268396

GOSH! I was just to panic, but everithing went fine. Spymac hosting asked me to accept their new rules while my files (you know, my software releases) became fully innaccessisle. Now almost everithing is OK, only metalmeltdown.spymac.net mirror site is still down. It's gonna be fine tomorrow, I hope.

Anyway, new Spymac is running pretty fast!

#276846

OK, here's another release. No new features, only bugfix. As I told once before, I fixed icon exporting routine for better colors.

Version number is now 2.1.1.114

Yeah, I know. That screenshot is lost after the Spymac reapplication problem. If someone has a shot nice enough to be official app screenshot - I'd like to see it.

[edit]Fortunately OSX-E has kept it. Showing here:

Now everything's fine with thread startin Msg

Well I hope you'll be happy to know I am preparing a new release this summer (think it will be just v.2.2, nothing revolutional) which will be able to import PSD and even ICNS files and about a hundred of other formats. I need to know whether it is necessary to add a feature to grab icons from EXE/DLL files and to export to formats other than PNG and ICO.

#291113

OK, in the following two weeks there will be release of v.2.2. Multiformat/multipage import (from ICNS also) as well as anticipated drag'n'drop will be available. Due to support of reding 100+ formats, this release package will be at least twice bigger, but I don't think downloading 1 MB is a big problem today.

#298672

Whoa....so will this app also be able to convert (Mac format) icons? No more Axialis IW?

#298720

Nightcrawler, it WON'T convert (it is prohibited by the GFL license), it will only import. Actually it does already :)

#299246

Alas, I'm having troubles with my hard drive. It's Fujitsu MPG3307AV, and soon I'll have to say "it was..."

Sorry to bump this, but i've found this program useful, and was wondering if anymore versions were going to be made or if this project is (sadly) dead?

The project is hybernated :) I've got archive with sources, but currently I don't have a compiler to continue development. Also the time is the important factor: I've got a good nice well paid job, but I have to work hard there.

If you really want to help, click any 'donate' link in my signature and do there any of what I ask you to do, if you please. This gonna help.

Tonight my experiments with GFL SDK have successfully finished. The following release of iConstructor will surely be able to import files of 131 formats supported either by GDI+ or by libGFL (including Photoshop PSDs and anticipated Mac icons - ICNSes, all with alpha-channel). Multipage images will also be supported for import, and special attention is payed to ICO support. Still I've no luck with ripping icons from EXEs and DLLs, but I think that's OK (I never needed this in iC2 as there's a plenty of small and free utilities to do that for me).

Now I'm workin on almost full GUI remake (it will look the same, but will be based on the JVCL suite completely). Also, the skinning system is to be reworked, and, alas, seems like iC2.2 will be no more backward compatible to older skins.

That's it, boys and girls. Still waiting for your donations.

The difference is the price of the program. Can you name the price of any Photoshop? But iC is free, and it's gonna stay free anyway!

#321984

Looks like a very useful app, sadly I have no use for it... yet... but I should download it anyways, just incase ;)

Thanks!

#321993

Do you know how much Photoshop? If you don't know, please look at the Adobe site, than we can talk with you. iC is icon container program, that means, you can create different picture file formats to .ico files. I love this program, why, because very usable and easy.
