Tooltip Ads

I'll gladly donate £10... whatever that ends up being in USD... In a couple of weeks that is once i get paid thus taking me back inside my overdraft limit lol!  I use A-S enough that I feel its only right to give something back.  Not overly keen on the popup ads, but if the money from them goes to pay for server/software upgrades then I don't really think that anyone should be complaining.

Cheers,

[EDIT]

One thing, though... I just noticed the ads scan the user group text as well... I think if at all possible Tim it might be a nice idea to just have the ad script scan the main body of the posts, and exclude sigs and user group text?

[/EDIT]

Yes siry bob I'll fix that now. :)

ironicly, i'm seeing them in Firefox v.8, but not in IE lol but i don't mind them at all, just glad its not a virus :-P anything that keeps this site up is good by me. :)

Strange, even though Microsoft is starting to go open source (but that's another story).

Timmie, maybe you should change the link colour as well? Maybe a blue colour like #006699 (okay I like this type of blue).

EDIT: Strange, Microsoft wasn't lit up with an ad.

Just make sure it's visibly different than the default colour for normal links

Well, Timmie just needs to change the colour to the one that I gave him.

It's different to the rest of the sites links.

Great, now they look just like regular links. I can't tell them apart now. :6

Links are black :S,

the tooltips should now be somewhat aqualike, I added a pinstripe bg, and changed the font.

I saw blue for the links and the tooltips are yellow (and it's 1:37am).

Yea some reason the pin stripe isn't showing up anymore, I had it looking all pretty :(.

#182278

Ah I'm sorry I finally loaded Firefox today and the text ads to look the same like regular links, I'll fix that for you guys today, sorry about that.

#182579

so what ones are there?

microsoft virus CPU MSDN update what else?

#182581

yeah seriously. does it do anything if we click on the ads or do you jsut get money from them being there?

oh and a donate button would be cool. paypal takes money away from you to use and its a bit outdated (people are getting defrauded....search gamespot about it if u care) but a mailing address or something at the least.

neways, sorry for posting another topic like this, i SERIOUSLY didnt see it...didnt understand what Tooltip Ads was referring to so i just posted...sorry.

Would it help if I made em more aqua like?

yes. they S-U-C-K NOW!!!!!!!!!

#182854

I noticed another thing.

The Ad's appear in the titlebar section (ie. the "Replying to Tooltip Ads" bit).

It really looks strange.

#182866

how much do the tooltips get you? and does it affect it if i click on em? i'll gladly ysit there for a fwe minutes before i use the site and just go around clickin to get yall a few bux every day.

#182886

Im using FireFox and they appear to me... well actually they stopped now

Wierd things... More aqua-like would be good for the site but Id prefer it if the sponsered links would just be a different colour so like regular post links black and sponsered links blue because I keep clicking these links by accident.

I havnt noticed the pages loading any slower but when you move your mouse cusor over the links it take a couple of seconds to load the information during which my mouse freezes then if I click it freezes my computer while it loads which take a long time!

I to would suggest a donate button Ive been waiting for the chance for ages I regularly donate to sites to show my gratitude. My donations have hit 3 figures a few times if I use the site alot, too many people expect these sites to be free and moan when ads appear these things costs ridiculous amounts of money. I dont mind ads just aslong as they fit in with the site and they dont stick out like big yellow flashing pop-ups......

The badge idea would certainly bring in donations as alot here seem to want them :P

#183003

I would also donate.

But: i don't have a credit card - maybe I could help somewhere in the forums. dunno.

#183715

If it helps keep the site up add as much ads as you want! :D I am not kidding.

I mean I think it's better than having the site shut dwon.... Or even having it momentarilly closed becuase of Bandwith issues. I would die if I go one day with out you guys.. ( No I'm not gay! :D

So don't worry. ;)

#183788

I don't mind the little ad links... anything to help this great site! What bugs me is the short freezes right after a page loads (Firefox). >.

#186647

FireFox regularly ask me to kill the script also... really being a pain, freeze + firefox warning.

#188880

Unless you guys can fix up the script and not make Firefox freeze, I'm going to block it with the Adblock extention. I know the ads are to support Aqua-Soft, but the freezes really get in the way of surfing the site. >.
