Awesome package as usual... one minor problem.
All my network drives that I'm mapped to no longer have a drive letter or name.
I could care less about the drive letter, but I need to know what is mapped to what.
Can you tell me what key you changed. I tried to get it out of your install package, but the reg entries don't get extracted.
Thx
You may want to uninstall and then reinstall with corrent options checked because you can you pick whether you want drive letters removed or not.
Originally posted by adrianmak@Apr 12 2004, 04:51 PM- What is the desktop icons size e.g. My Computer, My Network Places, etc come with Flyakitesp1 5.1 ? 32x32 ? 48x48 ? 128x128?
- During the instllation, there are several skins for the MSN Messenger. I selected all skins for MSN Messenger. How do I change the MSN Messenger skin ?
You icons should remain the same size as they were before. In order to make them bigger you can choose to pick Large Icons in Display Properties or go into regedit and then hk current user/control panel/desktop/windows metrics and then change shell icon size to 72, 96, 128 etc though you may have to edit other strings in order for things to be positioned correctly on the desktop.
Once again, great work Flayakite, your work is truly appreciated.
One question though, since I've installed the mods to my system, My Add/remove applet has been screwed up. I love the way it looks, but I can't uninstall some of my programs and in some cases, not all of them are listed there. Which file controls that, in case I might need to switch back to the default?
qtstorm
shh... do you hear it?

Now did the iconpackager that came with the Installer work for anyone?
IconPackager isn't required for this set of system files, as it replaces the original XP icons with new "OSX icons".
If the icons aren't appearing as they should do, use TweakUI to rebuild the icon cache or if you're already using IconPackager... there's an option to do it there for you too...
EDIT: If you meant the IconPackager icon in the control panel.... it's only a link to IconPackager... you need to program iteself for it to work
anyone tested these files (by running the installer) on an swedish winXP SP1 system? thx in advance
can someone help me? i just installed it, and nothing happened... any ideas?

Been there... done that.
Still do not have any mapped drive names.
As I stated before, I could care less about drive letters. I know how to get the drive letters back, but I need to get the mapped network drives names back.
See screenshot.

lots of update for windows today.. anyone know if these updates will affect this installer or a new release of this installer to match the updates? ![]()

TweakUI has an option to turn drive letters on or off, and put the drive letter before or after drive name... that should "reinstate" your drive letters
Hey Folks,
You know what I just got screwed ....I cant login (The login screen does not come up everything goes blank after the xp splash screen) into my system after i restart .... I found later that this was only for SP1, i just have XP pro, no SP1.
Initially I got a winlogin.exe error , As I also have 98 too on my system and can go in and manipulate files, executing systemrestore commands also did not help.
The original winlogin.exe error went away.
Can anyone help me here ??

I used to get that too. Just use the XP cd to restore the original files and then try installing the files without loginscreen checked. Also when I got that, the bootscreen stayed the same and I got the login and bootscreen errors with SP1 installed because it already came with my XP cd.

lol don't tell him to to try reinstalling the files, he just said he didn't have sp1. Unless you have sp1 do not install these system files, simple as that.
i have a questions for everyone. how many of you have updated windows through "windows updates" first, and how many of you havent? the reason i ask is because i installed this on my machine and got no errors, i then installed it on a friends machine and started getting the errors everyone here is talking about. the only difference is his machine was a virgin SP1 and mine had ALL the updates installed.

I updated first. I followed all of Flyakites instuctions.
Ecaept for one. I used ectract mode then used Replacer to replace only the files I wanted( shell32.dll, all . almost all dlls, and all .cpls) the reson I did that is because the first time I installed the pack it ****ed up my system. So I manually replaced some files.
The ones I know that I didn't do was user32.dll, logui.exe, and some other file. Basiclly nothing that has to do with start up or loging on.
uh i think i had windows ME last time i updated
oh well um will updating screw any of my, how should i say "replaced" files
it would really suck if i had to go back to that luna theme :6
<_< godsh thats like a freakin 80 megs of updates for me!!
oh ya! hey microsoft :moon: thanks for not making a perfect OS that dosnt need updates every 3 days!!! because that would be copying OS 10.3

I wasn't looking at restoring my drive letters.
I KNOW HOW TO DO THAT ALREADY!!!
My god people read... I'm not a frikkin idiot.
I'm on a network and I have several mapped drives.
I need to see the \\servername\sharename.
Obviuosly one of the reg tweaks in the installer removed the entry.
Uninstalling did not correct the issue, system restore did not either.
If I knew the key that was changed, I could fix it or export it from one of my other PC's that hasn't been touched.
The reg tweaks do not get extracted when you select extract files only option for install.
Sorry for the shouting, but this is very frustrating... and NO, I will not rebuild it.
I'll just have to search MSDN for the key. I was hoping for a quick answer from Flyakite or someone else who has played with this particular reg tweak.
See my previous post with attached screen shot for example of problem.
try restoring the drive letters, mayb that same key removed the names.
hopefully this hasnt been suggested before, although i dont think so.

Same thing happened here. One of the updates replaces your msgina.dll. Just use ResHack to pull the icon file from your old msgina.dll, Icon Group 109 and put it into the new msgina in the same Icon Group.
The last time I replaced my files my system didn't like it. This time I chose only the shell, cpl and dll options and it works great. Thanks for your hard work, I love it!

Tried that... it gave me back my local drive stuff, not my network drive info.
Still blank as can be.
5 new official xp-security-updates today. will we have to expect an updated file here, too?
B²

haven't found other files replaced yet, thank god!
Should i just replace the Msgina.dll to get the shutdown screen back? Or will there be an update version? thanks alot flyakite!
