Thanks for the help Ive recieved....

-------------------------------------------

To do:

Like in the first release with some modifications.

Note: the theme was tested on three diff machines without errors.

All was tested on fresh installed firefox, so I suggest to backup everything and uninstall/reinstall firefox if u have troubles with the first release....

Step 1:

Download the Mozilla-Firefox-0.8 Application.

Install Firefox.......

Close Firefox.......

Get the new SAFARI.WBA Windowblins theme from the PIXELPERFECT.rar archive.

WindowBlind 4,1 or higher needed!!!

Install the new WB theme.

IMPORTANT: Use the safari theme as per-application theme, USE it only for firefox.exe!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Done..

-----------------------------------------------Restart Firefox

Step 2: /extensions/

Download/install the Compactmenu.xpi extension.

Link: http://downloads.mozdev.org/cdn/compact/compact.xpi

Download/install the tabbrowser extension.

Link: http://white.sakura.ne.jp/%7Epiro/xul/xpi/...tensions_en.xpi

Done....

-----------------------------------------------Close Firefox

-----------------------------------------------restart Firefox

See if everything is all right....

-----------------------------------------------Close Firefox

Step 3: /File replacement/

Backup and replace the following files:

- CLASSIC.JAR

located: e.g.: c:\program files\mozilla firefox\chrome\

Replaces the default gui

- BROWSER.JAR

located: e.g.: c:\program files\mozilla firefox\chrome\

replaces some other settings

- EN-US.JAR

located: e.g.: c:\program files\mozilla firefox\chrome\

replaces some structure settings

- COMPACT.JAR

located: e.g.: c:\program files\mozilla firefox\chrome\

replaces some icons and settings

- COMM.JAR

located: e.g.: c:\program files\mozilla firefox\chrome\

replaces some icons and settings

- TABEXTENSIONS.JAR

located: e.g.: c:\documents and settings\user(your user name)\application data\phoenix\profiles\default\xxxxx.sit\chrome

replaces some icons and settings

- USERCHROME.CSS

Important!!!

In this release there is no userchrome.css so backup your and delete!!!!!!!!!

- PREFS.JS

To bypass errors place this file in the .sit directory.

This file consists my settings.

-----------------------------------------------restart Firefox

Step 4: Setting the GUI....

Do the following steps /short form/:

-1- Rightclick on the toolbar, set customize.....

-2- Place the comactmenu icon (two aA letters) into the toolbar....press done....

the menubar becomes empty when u choose the done button.

-3- Now u should place each icons to their proper place....INTO THE MENUBAR, NOT THE TOOLBAR! WHERE NOW U CANT SEE THE MENU /EMPTY BAR AT THE TOP/!!!!!

(some buttons should move from the toolbar some from the customisation panel)

Button 1 BACK, Button 2 FORWARD, Button 3 RELOAD, Button 4 COMPACTMENU /the two aA letters/, 5 ADD, 6 STOP, 7 HOME.

-4- Move the entire urlbar from the toolbar /original place/ to the menubar next to the home button....

-5- Place the GO button next to the urlbar

-6- Move the entire searchbar from the toolbar /original place/ to the menubar next to the go button....and press done!

-7- In the view/toolbar menu uncheck the NAVIGATION TOOLBAR......and tada the menubar/with icons/ will be the only toolbar....

Note!!!!

In first release I have noticed that this was difficult for some of u.

So let it be clear: after the whole process only the bookmarks bar and the menu bar are in use the navigation bar shouldnt be visible.

Are u ready??? If u replaced the prefs.js u bypassed the tabextensions settings.

-----------------------------------------------Restart Firefox

In this release i did not include the google.gif/png file.. So if u want replace this file, do it

The location of the original icon is:

C:/Program Files/ Mozilla Firefox/Searchplugins/google.gif

-----------------------------------------------Restart Firefox

Something important. This release now has the ability to use shadows under the bookmarks text. It is not possible to set it as default, so everyone of u must set it on every computer. From one hand it is extremly difficult on the other hand it is logical and easy.

In the main rar there is a folder called extra. This folder consists two files.

One html and one png.

The html carries info on my bookmark settings, the png carries the shadows

for the first file.

If u want to see how it works, please follow my instructions:

Step 1: Backup your bookmark.html file / it is in the .sit directory/

Step 2: replace the original with mine.

Step 3: Open the classic.jar file and navigate to the chrome/browser directory.

Place the png into this directori.

Step 4: restart firefox.

Now u should see a new bookmark strip with shadows.

Step 5: remove the png, replace my file with yours, restart.

How to make your own?????

U must be a Photoshop expert....

-Set your favorite bookmarks.

Use it /your bookmarks/ as a template ss and modifie my Png.

I know it is difficult every single pixel must be in its proper place.

Please try, have fun, good luck..........

There is a bug in the original pack wich crashes the preferences settings.

GO ON IN THE TOPIC, there is a bugsolutions.rar file and instructions .........

S O R R Y!

Have fun.

One thing at the and:

Fell free to modifie the whole mod, do not wait my permission. Post your modification(s).

Sorry i don't understand what i'm supposed to do. I took the userchrome.css from the first release and placed it into c:\documents and settings\user(your user name)\application data\phoenix\profiles\default\xxxxx.sit\chrome

should i delete this file or leave it there?

Anything else works fine, great work, the only thing is that i can't save my settings, so i can't save a new startpage it always sets it back to the mozilla page, i also cannot choose my download settings so it saves the files somewhere on my oc and don't even ask me where to save.

Could this be because i installed firefox into program files\safari?

#136722

Good work - thanks a lot.

-Aviel.

You dont need your userchrome.css file in 0.2 just delete it....

Make sure you back it up first :P

I don't know what I've done wrong, but I can't get the changes I make in the 'Tools' -> 'Options' to stick... eg if I set a home page it gets cleared when I next open it...

I have exactly the same problem (as said some posts above) can't set start homepage, if choose in the options that i want to be asked where to save the files i want to download, but i don't get saved and it automatically saves all files into e:\misc documents. i never had such a directory, i uninstalled firefox completly twice but that still don't help.

#136752

Ah whoops heh, I usually don't skim read, but I was so excited about this release that I just skimmed thru and posted my thing heh

Well that makes two of us now, I'll keep looking at the various files

#136756

the tab extension link doesnt seem to work...

the url is broken...

#136758

I think i have a (tempoary?) solution for the problem with the settings. I uninstalled firefox again, installed it, chosen startpage and set the download settings, then installed the compact menu extention and copied the 5 jar files into the firefox\chrome folder.

Now it works.

Damm My preferences were all Destroyed, I cant set anything in the new preferences menu :/ it just gets all white, and I cant setup where my files will be downloaded too

Cant set up homepage either, cant set up any setting

#136769

Looking for the solution of the preferences problem......

To get the safari like interface I had to reorganise the xml structure.

There must be some kind of bug............Fixing.

HOLD YOUR DOWNLOADS UNTIL I FIX IT......

#136780

It will take a whole day until I find the error.

So here is a solutions pack.

Download the following rar file and replace the files described below....

Pref.css to classic/browser/pref in classic jar

pref.xul to browser/pref in browser jar

listbox.css to classic/global in classic jar

That will solve the error but will not be so safari like....

Try, and please tell me if it works.....

that fits the bug - IMO the control-panel looks ok now, too.

#136836

This is simply perfect! I reinstalled Firefox for this and now everything is where it should be ^_^ Text on tabs is still a little bit too low, but I can live with that.

Aquarius, can you please tell me what is exactly modified in en-US.jar file? I have Polish version of Firefox and I'd like to modify my pl-PL.jar.

Aquarius, can you please tell me what is exactly modified in en-US.jar file?

At least the brand.dtd (name change to Safari) can be found in en-US.jar\locale\en-US\global. Don't know if anything else was changed.
