Because I like a change of scene.
I do it just because it's fun and it's my hobby
And I'm here
on the forum for the company
Just to hang out. No one in my
neighborhood knows anything about modding windows or even
anything elsen technical. Basically their capabilities are limited to
checking their email. ![]()
i'm here beacause i like the ambiance , and i like changement and i like have my desk how i think it will be better.
i do it because it's fun. and i dont mod it to look like a mac, i just mod it. a-s has programs taht you can put to use for things other than maccing your computer. right now i have the spring theme someone told me about on this website. then theres sysmetrix with dialled from a friend, and rainlendar i found myself. but im always here trying to find new things

I couldn't have said it better myself... ![]()
Because I can! (Bill Clinton style
)
I used to make webpages, then a few years back I realised I could mod windows and well its something of a hobby, but at the same time what else is there to do on a computer besides listen to mp3s? ![]()
Because Win2k is ugly ![]()
I've never tried to emulate MacOS (sorry!) I just want my PC to look nice. The main reason I'm here is the creative talent of alot of members is phenomenal - just look at all the wallpapers, samurize configs etc. that are released here; they're outstanding.
I'd like to think that I have contributed to the site in some way, even if the icons I released are not Mac related at all, but I've still given something in return for what I've taken from others.
I can't afford a mac! When I bought my pc, I used to hate macs. I thought they were strange and confusing. But now i want one. But I'm broke. So. I do my best to make windows look pretty.
i had the perfect 1:1 windows to mac thing a year ago (with what was there and offered) but i feel like i need something thats suited to my tastes and eeds. so while i could mod it again, i just put on programs that i feel help me to create a better desktop thats a bit streamlined.
Why do i mod windows?
to improve funtionality of it. like many other people here, i work with macs exclusively at uni for my post production work and the like. i have 3 mac laptops at home, but they're not workhorses obviously, my pc is
. in many instances, i dont care too much about the details. i use the dock, etc. but i haven't taken to the level you veterans have ![]()
that said there are only two more really mac os ish things id like on my win box;
1) 3 panel browsing within explorer (which is probably not possible, but you can always hope
) i've tried using the finder equivalents, which are all fantastic, but i find that they're not as smooth as native explorer (no surprise i guess, since this is my workmachine, so functionality is key here, not aesthetics).
2) to get rid of those ugly ugly 3d borders around each and every window of each and every program  i *loathe* these things compared to the windows on macs.
i have not contributed to the community.
and i do regret this, i'm thinking about wallpapers, but thats only a possibility.
i tend to work more with motion graphics/video/flash. perhaps in a year, you might see something up at http://www.timothylim.com, but no promises ![]()
A-S constantly evolves and we have to evolve along with it. heck, america used to be a place where all the people that were shunned by their countries (or didnt like it) wanted to go (besides, of course, entrepreneurs...dont get technical with me!). my point is, america doesnt have slavery nemore. it evolved for the better.
so we should too! im noticing that MANY people (myself in cluded) use this website to mod their computer. not to make it a mac, but to mod it. of course, the essence of maccing it up is still there. there are tons of people that want it done. simply put, while we could go to other forums, we stay here because of the great amount of talent on hand. why go newhere else?
I came here by accident, don't really know how.
I think it was a google search. I love the aqua style, i love macs visuals (even thought i don't have one... yet).
I love this forums because the people here are so damn nice. I try to contribut with what i can do, with some wallpapers. Some not the best. And i contribute with my poor english. ![]()
Enjoy people!
I stumbled across this site when I saw that you could have a dock on windows. I stayed trying to make a perfect copy of X. Then I bought a powerbook and now I stay because it's a friendly community and I try to help in the hardware/software/web development forums when I can. i do see why duckie gets upset once in a while though.
im here because my pc hasnt been this better looking them before.
im here, because i used to have a imac 400 dv, that i used as my personal computer for 3 years, i basically learned alot of how to use a computer on the mac os x. So when i came time to get a new computer a g5 was wee bit too much so i mod, this ugly XP. I got a cinema display for my birthday so im abit closer. Aqua soft for life !
Because to me it's fun. And I always like to change things from the default.
i'm a mod my own... be proud of my own so i tend to do it for fun... personlized computer
I've found out that the only reason i mod my pc is not because its fun or because i like the way it looks,
its because i have nothing better to do...
I love aqua, thats why.... and I love skinning, modding and gfx work in ps, it's fun.
Well, I don't do the whole mac thing.
I tend to keep the majority of my customizations aimed at higher functionality as oppossed to flashy looks. Always been that kind of person with things I buy, clothes I wear etc...function > fashion.
If something makes my computer look badass and how I'd rather it look with no additional resource usage etc, I'll do it. Custom Marletts and 3DCC themes are examples of this.
I just do it because I want things to be how I want them. It's like if you ycould buy a new car and pick the color you want, you'd pick a color you likd, instead of some ugly ass color. That's how I am with computers, I can make it look completely badass, so why not?
Also it's just a fun thing to talk about. Just how some people will talk about what mods they've done to their car, I've got one other friend who's equally interested in PC customization as me so it gives us something to talk about. ![]()
...'cause i'm an anal SOB and I want my desktop to look cool.
