i was here for aqua, and i still like the aqua style (i thought i'd never leave it!), but now i'm more interested in the other styles, e.g. opus osx and minimalism.
i've never been interested in emulation per se, but aesthetics has always been my goal.

I came here because I was in love with the aqua interface... so I started trying to emulate it in every aspect I could, even if it meant a loss of functionality. Soon after that, I realized how stupid it was to sacrifice functionality just for it to look pretty, I spend too much time on my computer to do that. So now I am just customizing so my computer will be my computer, not just like everybody else's. Also so that it will be easier to use, and more efficient.

I came here with emulation on my mind but moved more towards my own aesthetics which continue to change as I explorer more options. Influence from other forums (Winmod and Virtual Plastic to be specific) has moved me in a similar direction as dreamz.
I now have an aqua "influence" in my simpler GUI appearance.

And... I don't quite agree with "only looking for goodies" (atleast not in my case) - I like to think that I also contibute to the community.

agreed, I have no issue with your questioning.
In fact, I wasnt being all-inclusive in my post. It was just a general statement to those who arent here for Mac OS related material.
Yes, you and many contribute to the basis of what this site is about (Mac OS X), but there are a few, it seems, who are just here for leeching, lurking, and Visual Styles.

and I must say - I am begining to see that as well...
I do think however that the veterans of the site and others who care about whats happening here manage to fight off these leeches effectively.
(i.e - we haven't seen Denny Chan here for a while... although maybe I shouldn't bring that up )

You know, I didn't mention why I am here. I love hacking the heck out of my comp and prove to Microsoft that all of their decisions that they spend a mil on are stupid and a 9 year old knows better. And cause the community is cool.

Of course you're gonna get many more "leechers" or as I'd call them "Passers By" then active members. It's like that with any forum and indeed web site.
The reason I'm here is to make my Windows (and now Linux) box look like a Mac box. I think what originally attracted me to Aqua-Soft in particular were the Aqua Apps and I'm sure that's true for many users. (Sorry I forgot we're not allowed to talk about that now).
At the end of the day, if you go looking for aqua stuff, find it, download and use it, theh morally perhaps you should at least show your appreciation to the site/owner. But if it's not forced, then you can hardly complain when people take what they can get and then bog off somewhere else. That's what a lot of people do. I'm sure I've done it many times. Not necessarily on purpose, but if I took an active part in the forums on every site that I ever downloaded anything off, I wouldn't have time for other mundane things (like work and XBox and stuff).
Anyway that's me done.
