New Ical Clone

well, as far as resources go i think i'm all set. the progy already set out appointments and all for the current week, draws the lil squares where the appointments go and saves the appointments descriptions to files. so that's pretty much it for the alpha, just need to work on the ui a lil more, but i'll do that tomorrow 'cause i'm beat.

please, pester me with stuff you'd like to see implemented, you know, the ol' "i want i want i want". go nuts.

i'll try to check those by tomorrow morning and implement the ones i can to the alpha and have that up by afternoon.

peace, and thanks for all the info and rsrcs. much appreciated.

its about 5 mb zipped, too big for mail, but i could transfer over to my pc which i set up as an ftp and you could download it from there

I advocate using mail by SpyMac. I've sent attachments of up to 7MB before and works great.

@haulden: This is looking very promising. Just handle it at your own pace. I love the way it's taking shape. I wish you all the best, and I trust that you will pull through. ;)

thanks for the vote of confidence. i didn't go to sleep after all lol, still messing around with the app :D

#121051

may i ask what language you are coding this app in?

#121056

i't looks sexy :woot: , i can't wait to see the full app workin on my comp, do you have betatesters  ?

#121059

@static: yes, i'm gonna have beta testers. it's gonna be an open beta, so everyone's who's willing is invited to participate.

@enhanced: i'm doing the gui stuff in visual basic and most the actual coding on c++ and using them on the vb apps as dlls. i'll probably release the source code tomorrow along with the beta version so anyone who's willing to optimize it will be able to do so. most math stuff is on assembly and most code on c++, but i think i'm gonna be releasing an all vb version of the source code so it's more accessible. hope that clears that up for ya.

VB mixed with C++ and assembler, oh joy

And I thought I was strange mixing C++ and Delphi in Borland C++ Builder

hi, dave again here. well, i'm pretty much done with the beta version. you can check out some screenshots here

As for the open beta, If you want the progy, just pm, i'll send it to you via mail. It's really small so it's no problem. I just don't wanna post it on the web, or give out the address here so i don't get anyone intro trouble and whatnot with the nice folk over at apple.

anywho, that's pretty much it for a while. i'll be sending betas today (saturday) and tomorrow, but after that, it's closed. i'll give beta testers aditional info on the mail with the app.

peace and thanks for the help

Well, i wish you best of luck then, always thought that coding projects, because of their nature need to be built from code and then accommodate the GUI, that is how you would build a house too, put the walls up and then paint them.

Hmm.....I've always been thinking that you start with the roof

Anyway.....looking good so far. I like that Photo and Duckie are sooo helpful, this is what I call precious members :D

Tell me: is this app skinned by visual style or is skinning 'embedded'? And buttons? Do you create them from scratch or is visual style responsible for them?

Keep it up, it looks very good so far. And take your time. No need to hurry ;)

thanks for the comments guys, always appreciated

@Pe7er: i have two versions of the app right now, one with the skin embebbed within the app itself, and the buttons made from scratch, and another one that is responsive to themes, although on this last one i'm having trouble making the dialog boxes buttons respond to the vs skin. imoa keep working on that till i get it fixed. hope this answers your questions.

-----

UPDATE: Some people (god bless their hearts, each and every one of them) have already offered themselves as beta testers, so i'll be receiving (hopefully) a lot of feedback from them and work on the app from that. i'll keep you guys updated. remember, you can still get on the beta test by pm'ing me, i could really use your help.

well, the thing is from the beginning of the project (read yesterday) i've kinda wanted to have two versions, the lite one and the actual clone. so i think i'm gonna have the embebbed one become the actual clone and the other one be the lite, dunno, just seems lighter, lol.

#121302
