Xhotspot

Hey everyone,

the next xApp is ready so let me introduce it: OS X has a nice little feature to activate the screensaver if the cursor moves into one of the screen corners wich are called "hot spots".

To bad Windows XP doesn't have such a feature - but xHotSpot helpes out: It places a icon into the system tray (right beside your clock) and wait until you move the cursor in one of the four hot spots. Of course you can configure wich hot spot will be used, even how big (in pixel) this hot spot is and how long the cursor must stay there until the screensaver activates. But that's not all: xHotSpot even displays on its icon wich hot spot is currently activated and as you can see on the screenshot below I used black/grey system tray icons to imitate the look of OS X...

Settings window:

xhotspot_settings.png

System tray icons:

xhotspot_systray.png

Before you download, let me explain the usage: If you doubleclick with the left mouse button on the icon, the settings window will appear. The doubleclick of the right mouse button will ask you to quit xHotSpot.

You can download it at AquaXP. Thanks to ZzPcPzZ for hosting the files! :)

Have fun,

sorry guys,

i am really bad but how do i check whether i have visual basic runtime or not? i mean i downloaded the first one with no vb runtime, but it apparently does not work when i hover my mouse. does it mean i do not have a VB runtime in my system? thank you for elaborating.

I don't know why it doesn't work for you but if you could run the app you have the VB6 runtime already installed. Otherwise the app won't load and you'll get an error ...

ObjectDock is also running when I have xHotSpot activated! Try to shut down on of the other apps after the next and restart xHotSpot everytime you close an application.

Good luck,

#8996

Very strange!

O.K. when does the error comes up exactly?

When I double left click on the icon to change settings.

I've got it to work now by changing the settings in the .ini file. But I thought it would be nice to be able to change the settings from the taskbar.

Yeah I know - I'm trying to fix it but today I'm very tired and I'm going to bed shortly.

See you tomorrow,
