Hmmm... why doesn't y'z shadow work on terminal and aquatunes? i think making it work would be a better option than implementing your own shadows...
btw... here's what i meant by thin outline...

see? you can't even notice it... but if you put these manipulated images next to original terminal, you'll notice it's easier on the eyes this way...
true Zen of Aqua works this way
... subtle one pixel tweaks make a difference...

PS: there's a "beta" version of my aquatunes icon on the dock in the screenshots so you can see how it looks when properly sized...
And sorry for posting big screenshots...
thank you very much!
Thank you all!
With your help I habe a nearly perfect Mac OS X!
Can't tell you how I love you all!
I wish I could make such progs, too...

i do see what you mean, but the original terminal app in OS X doesn't have a border. i'll make you a specialized version, though. ![]()
y'z shadow doesn't work because a thin shadow is implimented through VB, although it doesn't work very well. i'll get rid of it and see what i can do from there.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU ![]()
Anywho...
here's a link to sourceforge pages of my friend's win2000 console...
take a peek, you may find something of interest in it's source...
...
Doh! I just reread your last post... VB, huh.... the forementioned console was done in VC... tough luck...
Orcinus
Wow this is very very nice.. now i dont have to use crappy looking Command prompt window ugh its ugly
Thanks this rules!!!
orcinus my friend,
try editing your posts more often, rather than posting a brand new one with what you forgot to have in the previous post. THANKS.![]()
GOKU ![]()
p.s. just a question:
why do you need a border for the terminal if the original one in OSX doesnt have one? - it looks better without the border.. with a border it looks too win32 dos window ![]()
EDIT - BETAGUY900 just to note you, i cant seem to download your update cause the file is being used now. Thanks in advance.

in use?
if you're using windows 2000/xp, go into the task manager and kill the process "terminal"
if you're using windows 9x, i think you should be able to close it through ctrl alt del... not sure though.
funny, i saw nothing works in the background.. i was just thinking you or someone else is using the actual .exe download file.
nevermind ![]()
thanks for the update. lovely.
GOKU.
Goku, sorry for not using the "edit" function... wasn't thinking... ![]()
Anywho... a few bugs in latest version...
Bug no.1

scroll controls from beyond the grave... eerie...
Bug no.2

A text entry box where it doesn't belong - above the prompt... (only in red on black version)
Bug no.3
Choosing another color set sometimes opens another console without closing the old one so you end up with two of them...
Bug no.4
Orange on black has an evil mutated piece of resize widget in botom right corner...
Thank you for your patience,
your's sincerely,
Orcinus

how did you accomplish this?
if you could please give me step-by-step instructions?
also, i'm fixing the red text bug as i type this, although i won't be able to upload it until monday afternoon.
Well, quite normally fired up Terminal.exe with windowblinds running, typed chg, selected "Black background, white text", clicked ok and there it was...
btw, it disappears when i "wipe" the affected areas against the screen edges... (push the window beyond the screen edges and back) so it's obviously a refresh glitch of some kind...

must be some way that windowblinds skins the boxes like that... those boxes are used for the "dir" command (as you wouldn't get a file/directory listing without them). there's no fix for this that i'm aware of
wonderin what happened to terminal havent heard any updates.....
just a couple questions.......
is there any way to make it black with green text on start up?
also is there anyway to make it start up in C:\?
thanks!

sorry, i had to format and i don't have my visual studio cd... so i can't do any more coding at this time. if you want black on green on startup, download "duckie.exe" on the first page. and to make terminal look more authentic, no, there is no way to get it to say C:\.
Hi all,
I have a tip I thought I'd share with everyone regarding an authentic Unix style transparent terminal.
I'd suggest grabbing a copy of "Console" from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/console/
And U/Win from here: http://www.research.att.com/sw/tools/uwin/
The combination of those two programs/packages gives one a pretty full featured Unix environment under XP.
U/Win includes a Korn Shell and over 250 utilities such as ls, sed, cp, stty etc.
Also with the addon packages, it has a full blown Unix development environment as well.
The base install package for U/Win is pretty small, about 5 meg. It doesn't tie up alot of system resources either.
Peace,
Grusic
I'd suggest grabbing a copy of "Console" from here:http://sourceforge.net/projects/console/
And while you're at it, take a good look at the name/nick of Console icon's author in the readme ![]()
That's my friend's app! I think i mentioned it a few posts above ![]()
Orcinus
I forgot to mention, with the combo of "Console" and U/Win one has access to XP Shell commands *and* Unix shell commands.
So it's really a blend of both!
Peace,
Grusic
Betaguy...can u please update the files.....I would like to have a terminal with a black background and green fonts....the duckie.exe you refer to is an older version of terminal without the bugfixes (such as the mouse disappearing thing) It would be great if you could add a version which is the same as the terminal.exe but with the background color as black and font color as green...
oh and could you make the default terminal font as Lucida Grande???

Thanks for the link.
With Iceman's Jaguar VS and a little few edits of the config xml file + cygwin, I got something very close to Terminal on OS X. ![]()
Check it out:
It's nice and fast and that is bash shell 2.x I'm running there. I'll download X-windows later to try out.
is the download link broken?

Um, could you at least post the text from your xml so we can see what you did?
What I want to know is.. how he got a scrollbar in there.
