Voodoo 3 3,000 with 64MB RAM..  :(

@Alex; Yeah I can't wait to build and start up my new beast..  :canadian:

Ahhh I see, I used to have a Voodoo3 in my PC but it doesn't support hardware acceleration for things such as transparency in XP. So I got me a GeForce 2 for about 50 bucks and it works good.

#100342

My dying laptop has got a GeForce2 as well and it works just fine. ;)

#100384

Sweeettttttt!! :)

maybe you could add sound to those who prefer to have sound?

and what did you say about the CPU processing thing siwu? what about that 28% thing?

#100402

The refresh rate doesnt work on my computer... I get wierd looking lines on my screen. Something must be wrong with it.

I am sure you might have already said this but can you give us an ultimatum about when this may be released? I am in no way trying to push you to release it, you could say march and I wouldnt blink, Im just curious.

Looks GREAT by the way!! (Y) :rule:

Well, to be honest, I don't know, but I think max in 2 or 3 weeks :)

Because, yes, the engine in almost ready, but there is a lot of things to improve, I'll recode the engine when I'll put it in iEx.

But it's not very long to do so. I'll just encapsulate it in a class in order to clean the code :)

What I have now (at home) is a working Exposé program. Really, it's just like WinExposé but with another organizing algorithm (which I have to improve) and (of course) a better animation ;).

Great work Siwu!

1) Just two questions, Are you going to have configuration (exclusions etc...) via an ini file or will there be a configure app (personally I don't mind an ini file).

2) How will shadows work? Like in iEx 0.2 you had to switch shadows off (Yz) while windows are being moved, seeing as this uses a different engine, will that still work or will we be left with shadows where the windows used to be?

Again phenomenal development, fantastic progress, exceptional creator

just make sure you don't work too hard!!!

Thanks :)

Okay, for the config file, I don't want to code a conf app, cause I think it's not so usefull. BUT, Mad_Mike made a wonderfull config app for iEx which 0.3 will fully use. So it will be distribued with it. So yes an app, or the .ini if you want :)

For the shadows, there will be no problems, cause actually it's emulating a desktop :) So yes, no shadow issues :)

And for the "don't work too hard", don't worry, it's my pleasure to code iEx :)

And, I don't work too hard neither :)

so...

the latest direct draw demo, in fact all direct draw demos that you have released have used about 96% of cpu on my P4 2.6 Ghz, with a mobility radeon. the animations seemed a bit choppy.... not complaining just letting you know...

has anyone else had issues with ati cards?

-josh

#103471

i have possibly the same setup, i have a p4 2.66 with an ati radeon mobility w/ 32mb, and i have 512 mb ram

edit: i forgot to say that the demos looked fine on my computer

#103498

I have a P4 2.4 GHz with GeForce 4 Ti4200. The animation was only slightly choppy but did use 95% of my cpu still.

#103737

i have a P4 2.2ghz 512ddr with geforce4 440mmx 64meg graphics card and the animation is flawlessly.. but i believe it uses around 70-90% cpu

not that it matters as it only happens for a couple seconds... i mean, the animation wont be constantly playing so even if it usest hat much its still worth it IMO
