Iex 0.3 Coding Progress

BeginDeferWindowPos() and EndDeferWindowPos() should be faster, because it will make sure the updating of all windows between those 2 calls is done once when you call EndDefWinPos. in one single refresh-cycle :)

Anyway, can't wait to see the real iEx3 in action; siwu + directdraw = smooth animation :)

(lemme be a beta-tester ;) j/k :P )

ahh! all I was doing is clicking on the screen! Thanks!

Hi

was there already something said about the multi-monitor support (only "expose" the windows on the monitor the mouse is on ?)...

.. and something about the Source Code.. would it be released ?

thanks for answering ;)

Well, for multimonitor support, maybe in 0.4, but for now iEx expose all the windows of all screens.

About the source code, unfortunately no. iEx has to be no disclosed if it wants to survive. You see, if the sources are released (that doesn't bother me much), the guy who codes WinExpose should (and I'm sure will) use them.

The fact that he solds the prog doesn't want me to help him. Simply :) He started a company, so let's left him alone :)

But i'm now thinking of a "plugin" system in 0.4 for eye candy effects. maybe, maybe not. time will tell :)

try to set the screen to 32bpp. Also, when you launched the test app, DON"T click anywhere on the screen, and press F9.

If this don't work, wait iEx 0.3 :)

I originally had these problems, and then followed the direct instructions quoted.. works perfect!

This is on a 2ghz Celeron with 256mb ram, running XP Home with Blackbox for Windows shell.

Just start the program, do something else, press F9, see expose :)

click on a window, it brings it to the foreground, wait 5s and exit the program. Just in order for you to see the transition between the real and the directdraw window :)

wow very nice!. To the ppl that wanna test it, make sure that you have 32bit colors!. (I hope that support 16bit on the final)

But now looks awesome!! :D:D

Siwu I have a low end machine, so I'd be good to test how it'd work on a low end machine.

#99467

simply stunning Siwu, test apps work wounderfully on my system

But excellent progress and true talent you have excellent work once again!!

i had that problem, i later discovered it was because i had pressed F9 twice :shy: . i also noticed Avdesk dosnt like these tests, but im assured in 1.1 it will be fixed.

yep i know ;) siwu is Cool ... !

GO dude Go !! give it to me .. give it to me !! or i`ll go to france to kick you :P (yeah right.)

Didn't work on my system. Hit F9, screen turns black, my 2 windows begin to move and after 1 second of animation, it frozed. Then the beachball appears and start rotating and it wouldn't stop.

P3 733mhz, 320MB, S3 Savage IX (it's a laptop, so it's the lousy graphics card)

Just curious, will there be F11 feature in 0.3? :)

Oh course :)

iEx will be the perfect Exposé clone (execpt maybe the organising algorithm) :)

I tell you guys, WinExposé can start worrying :)

I count on you guys to make this prog more famous than WinExposé :)

Also I'm seriously thinking about adding multimonitor support (exposing on every monitors available, yes 3, 4 etc...), but not before 0.4.

Also, screen corner activation with time delay (configurable).

I also made a "ready to implement" version of the directdraw test and I saw that in use iEx uses max 28% cpu (on my pc at least). Which, if you consider to do anything while exposing, very good I think :)

#100248

One thing I would ask, Siwu, is that you make the shortcut keys more easily assignable in 0.3 than they were in 0.2 - that's the one thing the winExposé does have going for it -_-

#100273

will it turn dark the screen background when we press F9 and light dark (semi transparent) when press f10 ? like the real one ?

#100289

damn, if i didnt have an Intel Extreme Graphics card i bet it was perfect

#100290

Wow.. Near instant on my 400MHz P2 (although it was using 90-94% of the processor), well done! Can't wait for the release!

#100291

I like that performance on es.xxi's system! (Not for long eh? :naughty: )

Means that it's going to accessible to almost everyone!

Great work Siwu. It will be more widely known than WinExposé. ;)

#100306

What kind of video card do you have on that P2 400 es.xxi because I got the same if not a little better on my P2 and it's slower, I have a GeForce2 on it.

#100309

:woot: aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh, i cant wait, this is going to be soo awesome :woot:
