Garageband!

I think a comparable product for Windows would be Cool Edit Pro.

Pro Tools is just that... a professional product.

GarageBand has some nice pro features, but not anywhere close to Pro Tools.

i knew about pro tools, but i thought that was like heavy duty, pro, tier-on-it's own, mucho denero, type of software... from what i knew about it and reading these comments, pro tools seemed a lot more advanced... i'll check out Cool edit... thanks.

@wookie: you could also try Fruity Loops, Cakewalk Project 5, Cubase SX, Samplitude Studio (from easiest to the most difficult). And don't forget about Waves DX plugins and VSTi instruments! There is A LOT of this kind of stuff for windows :who's your daddy:

Apart of that Pro Tools is a hardware system. You get the app with a soundcard. Even if you install the app itself, it won't run.

Is Acid still produced? This thing sounds pretty much exactly like Acid.

I read through this earlier and wasn't sure what to make of it but I have since watched Steve Jobs Keynote address and they go into detail on GarageBand. They hired John Mayer to help with the demonstration.

Have a look Keynote Address

Just got done watching the Keynote and wow.. GarageBand looks absolutely awesome.. Sounds like it could possibly replace Soundtrack (apart from the "Pro" market). And the iPod Minis look damned sweet (as apposed to front/side photographs which really do not do it justice).

I'll stick with recording the old fashion way.

4 Alesis ADAT's, Yamaha 24 channel board and a lot of patience.

Hey rjohnstone, the 90's called. They want their format back ;)

i too just watched the keynote (good chunk of time), garageband does look really quite impressive and the presentation of it was well done. i could never have a use for it though.

i do feel that they need WAY more transitions in the iPhoto slideshows. i mean 5?! sure they have some nice ones, but 5 just is a joke.

But it's not aimed at you, Contra...

If they had wanted you to use it, they'd have called it GarageBland :P

#97728

hahaha

@stevie: thats one of those jokes you expect from your cheesy uncle. which says something about me i guess cause i was laughing pretty good when i read it. a good potshot at contra for sure. haha.

I think i've seen your band live before. The name seems very, very fimilar.

Yeah it's on Kazaa but a lot of it is our really old and really bad stuff. You can get a track from our latest album here if you're so inclined.
