GarageBand turns your Mac into an anytime, anywhere recording studio packed with hundreds of instruments and a recording engineer or two for good measure. It’s the easiest way to create, perform and record your own music whether you’re an accomplished player or just wish you were a rock star. And GarageBand is the newest member of the iLife family, so you can add your original music to your slideshows, your DVD menus, burn it to CDs or score your iMovie projects.

I can't imagine the multitude of instruments available and what amazing music and functions this cool application possess.

And it's bundled with iLife'04!

Great... Wonderful... Incredible! ^_^

For more information on iLife - Garageband... You guys know where to find. ;)

I am a musician, still struggling to write songs though. Hopefully this'll help.

It's the lack of talent that does that, bud ;)

I should know, I had the same problem

I was in a couple of bands. They went nowhere because my best buddy (Abe) and I were always together in the bands. I played Bass and by buddy played Guitar. Our first group was called The End. We were jamming alot trying to find a drummer. After a while we did. Then we needed to find a singer. We couldn't really find anyone that matched our style (which was a mix of Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Santana and Black Sabbath. We called our genre Acid Jazz). Then the drummer bailed. Junior school year came around and we got a group together to do a Soul Sacrafice cover originally by Santana (This is the only recording that I have, my buddy has all the tapes.) for the schools talent show. It was awesome. The band included me (Bass), my buddy Abe (Guitar), a guy names James (mad Drummer), buddy Kurt (great pianist, he played keyboard on this specific song). At first we were going to call ourselves Andrew (me) and the Three Americans. But then Abe and I concluded that we could use our old name The End. A few weeks before the Talent Show took place, Abe got caught with possestion of DXM (extract from NyQuil) and his parents left him in Pennsylvania to live with his grandparents over Thanksgiving. Seriously they left him, he woke up and saw them leaving without him. So that part of my life sucked. Anywho, what was this thread about?

@Wizard: Maybe speaking about it makes you feel somewhat better?

This is a thread to share with everyone what a wonderful and incredible looking application Garageband looks! ^_^

Here's more from the app.

Steve claimed it's for non-musicians as well, and simply anyone who'd like to make music. And he sure makes it look really easy. >.<

Doesn't it have sound fx and junk that you can screw around with? that'd be cool!

[offtopic]I'm not in a band (a school band tho :P ) but me and my fiend play together (me drums and him bass)[/offtopic]

Hey, $50 for iLife (GarageBand, iPhoto, iDVD, iMovie, iTunes), everyone should use it!

Did you notice that iPhoto went to version 4 before version 3. Yep, no version three's for iPhoto and another, I don't know what else.

#96724

It's a SERIOUSLY GOOD DEAL, IMO. ^_^

Come on!!! Let's go get it! :woot:

#96727

I'll wait for the free dload -_-

#96728

Anyone ever came across anything free from Apple? :(

I can only remember iTunes.

It's not bad, but to get all the really good loops you have to shell out another $99.00 <_<

I'll stick with recording the old fashion way.

4 Alesis ADAT's, Yamaha 24 channel board and a lot of patience.

@rjohnstone:

Are the packaged loops not good enough yet? They seemed to be already very professionally made, and the add-ons are just a means to upsize your library, IMO.

What do you think? >.<

Uhm.. What free download? (No warez I hope! *Gasp*)

#96735

The stock loops are very short and are considered teasers.

TechTV did a pretty good review last night on the product.

The Jam Pack add-on is supposed to be very comprehensive.

I consider the stock GarageBand product to be like an LE version and then when you add the Jam Pack it's like upgrading to the full version.

"Add more than 2,000 additional Apple Loops in a variety of instruments, moods and genres, more than 100 new Software Instruments, over 100 audio effects presets and 15 new guitar amp settings."

This is what I want... not the "basic stuff" as quoted last night.

#96736

Ooohh...

That's a BIG difference isn't it? Then I guess it isn't exactly enough for the more professional musicians then.

Hmm... Nice money-making concept there by Apple. Yet again!
