I've a tiny problem with AveDesk ^^; While everything run fine on my laptop where everything is at a standard location, it seems it can't access any of the ObjectDock plug-ins I have on my main computer, where ObjectDock is installed in D:\Stardock\ObjectDock. At least, I believe that it's the reason I can get any of the docklet to show in the "Add..." dialog >.< Is there any way, beside installing a fresh copy of ObjectDock in the standard location / trying to copy the whole ObjectDock folder with all the PNG in it to the C drive, to get my docklets to show ? ^^;
@Defr: just copy all AveDesk files to D:\Stardock\ObjectDock. This should do the trick.

Excited by people on the forums (saying this app has virtually no bugs), I rushed to download, test, and report RC1 myself. And this turned out much longer a letter than I expected. I really written these things to help and improve the oh-so-fickin'-great application it's shaping up to be. You may not take this into consideration, I'm not that of an interfacing guru, but I feel that A LOT can be improved in this case. Bear in mind I tested RC1!
The bugs and wishlist items go unsorted here, I'm just too lazy to pick them all and sort by type.
OK, I'll start with a bug:
- A desklet strethes to match some size by default, like 128x128. It'd be better if it fit the image's original size, and then one could stretch it as one wishes.
- Could you please make the size scroller buttons not bitmaps, but icons or Symbols... They look awful with my Studio Pro (read: a bit darker than default) visual style!
- When I enter "Select Font.." dialog in the "Label" tab, it's size setting hops up to like, 75 or 90 - some really big size.
- I really love the font's antialiasing, but it's size number does not match the actual system one. Yours is about 2px smaller. And there are probs with font styles: My Lucida Sans Unicode looks same in Normal and Bold styles. And for all the fonts all the styles not available for the current one should be blacked out or something. Right now I can choose Italic for LucidaMAC font, and there is no such one for it!!! But when finally set, it somehow looks bolder anyway. Oh, wait, I just set it NOT TO SHOW ANYTHING!!! The label is not visible at all! And I set all the styling so that it should be visible... Hm-m-m.
- AveDesk needs some icons badly. You could talk to Jairo Boudewyn (JairoB at A/S). He is a great artist and I hope he likes this app. You get what I mean?
- Look into testing appearance styles. There are clearly some probs with layering. At times it seems that in "Normal window" mode label and icon are on different layers. Text on bottom and icon in window's level. At other times (as I write this, it changed again!) it's ok, and they move together.
- Sometimes when a desklet is clicked on and dragged throughout the screen, icon disappears, only its label is visible. When you release it, it appears at the new position.
- I just set a custom PNG image for a shortcut desklet and clicked OK. When I enter the "Desklet Properties" dialog again, it does not show the set image in the preview area.
- Please, add Cyrillic support for the labels' fonts. Western, Baltic and ANSI are just not for Russians! I wonder if Japanese or Hebrew people are having any difficulties...
- Mountchecker needs some default drive icon, at least some "?" thing. And... it doesn't work for me at all. I typed "F:\" to hook it to my CD-RW. And it just sits there on the desktop regardless of whether or not any disks are in the drive. Same goes for my G-lettered Multimedia Card drive.
- Please turn text shadow off by default. I mean, come on, who wants that shadow (as well as grayscaling to some extent) there? It's too "special" of a setting. And label would better be centered at the bottom, not "lefty". And when I try to alter default desklet settings, I sometimes can't open that dialog! It won't open when I click the menu item. And sometimes it works ok, but but resets to your defaults...
- Auto-align should be customizable via menu too, complemented by "Align To Grid". We could set an anchor for the grid to spread from, item spacings, and options to align to left (like default "Auto Arrange" in Windows) or right (Mac OS default). Also, a checkable option to align to grid automatically, when dragged with mouse. These three features should be available through the right-click-on-desklet menu.
- Add ability to have configurations saved into different files. Not just a "Save to some unknown and the only existing location" thing.
- Desklets are opened with single click. How about setting it to react to single-clicks, double-clicks or right-clicks differently? And some "selected" and "clicked" conditions for Shortcut (Icon) desklet type with separate image and size settings.
- As for desklet types, I would add Icon desklet (stick to desktop by default, with shortcut and "selected"/"clicked" functionality), and re-do Shortcut into "Floating shortcut" so that it's more user friendly.
- Revise the menus' and setting windows' layout. It looks eh.... not so professional aтв has some kinda crappy feel. Like, when you open the Properties dialog and some setting there does not appear where it should be shown... You can not see what some setting is currently set to. The "feel" is as important as looks, if not more. I would improve these issues. I may help with that if you decide to do so.
- I really hope this can grow from DESKlets into some kind of ICONlets, that could be put into folders and such... Some system integration never hurts! =)
That's about it for now. Whoo! A page worth of RC1 issues and suggestions reported.

i made the current icon for AveDesk (i`m no artist) i know it doesn`t look good as Jairo`s or Hein`s would look but i wouldn`t call it awfull (the way u put it, it sounds like that) <_<

it`s a known bug i reported and will be fixed by version 1.0

i`m from Serbia and we use cirillic too but it never came on my mind to ask for other language support. we just never thought about it. report it HERE

Whoops, they were meant to be transparent. Anyhoo, I will replace them with default up down buttons or just get rid of them.

Maybe, but that will increase the size of the download a lot - not everyone is on DSL.

That is due to the windows dragging mechanism, will go over the code again.

Well I want shadow there :naughty: . But anyway, you should get rid of it in the default desklet settings. Can't imagine why that dialog won't open? Can you PM me more details?

This is not a professional app, it's a project done in my free time . Anyhow, I don't know what properties won't appear. Please give some more details.

I don't think desklets (interactive icons) would make sence in a folder.

Also, You should understand that this application is done in my free time and that it requires a lot of work and it doesn't get me anything besided some kudos. And kudos is something that doesn't feed you.

I can't say much but I love this app and there are no serious Japanese font issues, not yet that I've seen. There are bugs, definitely, and Andreas has gotten a lot of feedback (both publicly here and maybe elsewhere, through the bug report site, and through IM and PM for sure) in the last 48 hours, let's let him digest them before throwing more his way for the time being.
Thank you ji eun I am working hard to have a final and *bugfree* version next week, but I have also some exams to pass next week, I am currently doing a final check on my SDK, so if anyone has some (simple) desklet-requests, please tell me
