I heard a rumor about iChat for Windows.... probably not true

ichat for windows would be cool, but i think somebody here would have heard about it. and wasnt ichat created because of the lack of im clients for mac? and there are tons of them already for windows. it would be cool though

BTW, guys I have a question which I do not which to start a new topic about... Something fundamental but with not-easily-available answers.

Q. Why are Macs so much more expensive than PCs?

I can only guess it due to the following reasons. :blink:

- Mac uses superior hardware (???).

- PC enjoys economy-of-scale productions.

- Mac and PC targets different parts of the consumer market.

You guys have any ideas? :smartass:

Why Mac are more expensive:

1. Apple owns patents on most of their hardware. So ou won't get the same quality elsewhere.

2. Because schmuks like us will pay the extra $200 to get something that slick!

beside, Macs are more expensive to produce cause of their unusal shape and materials + someone has to pay for Steve`s private jet and mr. Ives` yacht :lol:

I assume you mean that patents on the designs of the boxen?

Remember, kids, IBM owns the patents for the PPC line of chips (and therefore the G4, G5, et al.), but has an exclusive contract with Apple for those particular PPC chips.

As for the RAM, graphics cards, TFT panels, mouse internals, and so forth, Apple only owns patents on the amalgamation of the pieces.

Apple buys all of their hardware's components and puts it into their own "packaging". Their monitors and Sony's are identical, except the Sony ones have more features. The Apple bluetooth stuff, as I recall, uses the same bluetooth controller as MS' hardware. The graphics cards are nVidia and ATI made. The PPC chips are made in IBM's fabs. Need I go on?

Where Apple excels, people, is user experience. They learnt early on that you can sub-consciously fool users into ignoring glaring problems in software and hardware just by making the interface pretty. Whether this be well thought out error messages, a little "Made by Apple in California... Enjoy" message inside each box, or innumerable other things, that's where Apple have always excelled. They make you want something really badly, and then you don't even notice it's problems when you have it, because you've lusted for it so much.

Let's not try to fool ourselves into thinking that Apple are the great gods of unbreakable software and hardware <_<

pple we all know that Apple is not a God among the mortals, but it` more a super sexy model that hides it`s flaws very good (don`t get me wrong, i`m not telling it`s bad either). And they hv the best iCandy (pun intended) out there :lol:

Mainly because I think before I post, and always, always proof-read my posts before I finally hit the post button, in case I say anything that's overly stupid...

And if there's something I'm not sure about, I either check the net for the facts, or make it clear that I'm not sure about it.

That way, you don't end up looking a tit (any more than usual, at least).

It does however seem to imply inferiority on Apple's part. :blink: With no intention to spark off a 'who is better' war, is there, then, any reasons to acquire an Apple machine then?

Other than being a mean graphic machine, is it good for anything else? :blink:
