What Do You Expect From Macworld?

Just thought it would be fun to try and guess what Apple may unveil at MacWorld. The conference starts tomorrow, the 5th, and goes though the 9th with the expo beginning on the 6th and going through the 9th also.

I'm guessing they will announce a new iPod and also make the SuperDrive Available in iBooks. (Y)

#95413

Mini iPod ;)

Aviel.

#95416

I'll say it before someone thinks they are so cool for thinking of it first:

MAC OSX for x86!

Now, at least a prototype of the so called mini iPods. I'm courious. And maybe an update to the full iPods. Maybe a new line of pBooks (G5?). I also heard a rumor that the iMac is due for another remake. I doubt it though.

#95423

I expect a daring new style in Steve's trainers, im bored of the whiteness of the past shoes he has been wearing.

Wizard = Cool.

#95526

Im expecting a some new iBook and new Powerbook configurations.

Another addition to the G5 line.

Thats all I can think.

The rumours on the internet suggest the mini-pod wont be unveiled for a long time yet.

Hopefully there will be lower prices! Maybe even some Windows support :shy:

#95528

I expect me to get my hands on the new mini-ipod that's supposed to come out at MacWorld.:rolleyes:

#95538

our head mac support guy at work said that he heard some stuff about dual g4 powerbooks, maybe they will release these at Macworld. but maybe its just a rumor

#95539

maybe youll just be able to blowdry your hair with the fans that will be needed for a dual g4 in such a small space... and maybe you would be able to fry an egg right over the little apple

#95540

that was pretty much my response when he told me about the dual g4 pbooks

#95543

ok, now i`m serious (and u r all free to flame me after the macworld when u see how wrong i was)

miniPods? - maybe (but what type of mem, i hv no clue)

Dual G4 PBs? - highly doubtfull

G5 PBs? - no way, unless Steve wears a pink ballerina skirt instead of his jeans/turtleneck on the keynote

G5 Rev3 iMac? - By all the sources, it`s on it`s way

Gen4 iPods? - nope

Bump for PMs G5? - single 2GHz, Dual 2,2 and Dual 2.4 (2,6 more probable)

well all i hv to do now is wait for Steve`s keynote and put on some azbestos suite that will save me from the flames

PS

i will hate the new prices!!!! then unbeliever!!

Why me ?

I remember when the 20/40gig iPods came out, i felt like "mr. hankey" about my 15giger but now i realise that i wouldn`t even need more space, it`s not even half full.

So Seph, don`t worry about that beast of urs, it`s got a long way ahead of it as a leader of the pack (but wait till the new PPC 980 comes out, rrrrrroar! )

what the hell am i talking about  , that coffe ain`t working (damn u Andreas and ur AveDesk, i hvn`t slept in weeks :lol::lol: )

/crawling back into my cave, looking for a barel of coffe

My take:

miniPods? - Yes, likely in 2GB & 4GB sizes....I am going to stick my neck out and say that the 'mini' iPods will be mini only in storage space, and likely keep the same form factor and physical size of the iPods we know and love today.

Dual G4 PBs? - Possible, but not likely, as there have been virtually no mention of these in the rumor mills. However, last year's release of the 12" and 17" PB models caught everyone off guard too. We'll see...

G5 PBs? - No. Just plain no.

G5 Rev3 iMac? - See "Dual G4 PB's". Same principle.

Gen4 iPods? - Yes released alongside the 'mini' iPods. Maybe 20GB, 40GB, & 60 GB versions?

Bump for PMs G5? - Likely; I'm going to go with Single 2Ghz, Single 2.4 Ghz, and Dual 2.6Ghz.

Also: iBook? - No. It's in the middle of a product cycle. Besides, a Superdrive in the iBook? That would make it waaaaaay too competitive with the 12" PB, even more so than it already is. I'd say iBook updates will pop up around March-April.

We'll have to see who comes closest in their guesses once we see the keynote. :)

I believe that these are coming. ;)

Which is also the reason why I'm chaining myself up :naughty:, preventing the uncontrollable run to get a 20GB iPod now! :DWhat were you guys thinking???

#95694

Powerbook updates are due. And they better update it, cause I'm itching to get one. Mini iPods are almost certain. Also PoweMac speed bumps.

And I suspect something big, like nothing we can fathom. Apple's site may have a new design.

#95812

doubt it

but i put my bet on iMac gen3 ;)

a little birde told me that ;):D

#95871

I hope they're cheaper, id love to get an iPod but you lknow money constraints wont allow me unless they either drom the 10 gig price or come up with some nice 1.5, 2 or something

#95873

/feeling sorry for Seph and trying to forget that he owns a Dual 2.0 beauty

iMac gen3 SHOULD be cheaper

/whispering - also a possible headless Mac ;) shhhhhh

The Oracle has spoken! B)

Well, MacRumors is reporting that the mini iPods will be released tomorrow, and a new app called GarageBand will definately be released tomorrow.

Little is known about GarageBand, but to me it sounds like a consumer app to record audio; in otherwords, a Final Cut Express type app for audio. I'm guessing that it will feature a limit of 8-16 recordable tracks that will allow amateur musicians to produce loop-based music and export it to MP3 or AAC.

This would be sweet- as a musician myself, I can tell you that when I switched, I was hugely disappointed at the selection of loop-based recorders for the Mac. When I had my PC, I used Acid Pro, which is still, to date, the best recording app I have ever used, hands down. It could even run smooth on my crappy 766mhz Celeron. However, Mac recording apps just plain suck, unless you can plunk down a lot of cash for Pro Tools or Logic, or have a G4 to run Soundtrack. I have none of these, so a pared-down version of Soundtrack that can run on my G3 iBook would make my day, and would allow me to get back to what I love- recording music.
