Stop Ripping My Icons!

"If" is a far cry from reality isn't it deleted?

I love how this board continues to pride itself in disrespecting and allowing the disrespect of artists. We the "artists" fully support these communities with free work, yet all we ask is for contact permission or to not include our work (owned and copyrighted by us) with yours. Is that really so hard to ask? Many artists including myself do make money off of icons. The free sets at least for myself serve as advertising and if I'm producing something that billy "two-cents" is passing around without permission or even without author info I am certainly not gaining anything!

Maybe it's because i've never made anything to get it ripped. But erm.. people know who really made it. So wtf does it matter? They're not making money of it. They're not getting fame from it. They're not claiming they made them. But you cry like they just took money right out of your wallet. You made something, and put it on the INTERNET.

If i spent hours making something I was going to give away for free. I wouldn't cry a river when I saw someone else passing it out as well.

Don't get me wrong, I don't like ripper's at all, and people who rip should reap the consequences. I Just don't like some of these Mac owners who constantly bash Windows and the PC market, and especially the ones who come along and say "no such and such can't be ported because I don't like windows or windows users". It's rediculous and makes a bad name for the customization community.

i think ur wrong here. They DO get known (fame as u say it) and i suppose it matters. I`m a amateur writer and also i`m not payed for my work. it feels really good to get thumbs up from pple and to be known and respected (i wouldn`t feel that good even if i were paid, there`s something that money can`t buy) . And how r u to get respect and incouragement if someone takes ur stuff and presents it like his own? And as for taking apart collections, well it`s like someone took pages from my books and novels and mizex them with some other stuff. It`d be crap! Like we all praise Smith for his great icons that`s how pple praise Hein for his work (i myself am among those who highly respect him, used his icons while they were aviable for Win). This is a very sticky situation and the only thing that calms me is that World Saviour himself is working on this
