rofl yeah realplayer is the worst player out there. i cant believe you even use it for mp3s....use music match jukebox or something if you hate iTunes.

Now....to get back to the point.
I'm not a big fan of the Real One player either. I don't like the UI and I think it's a bloated resource hog. Of course, that's just one man's opinion.
On the other hand, I'm trying to decide whether to use iTunes or WMP as my default player. I think it's kinda' cool that Apple released iTunes for the PC. On the other hand, how many people are really gonna' pay a buck or 99 cents or whatever it is to download songs from the music store. If you do plan on frequenting Apple's music store then iTunes seems like a great prog. If not, it seems to be just another media player.
I'm not really into all the features but once again, that's just me. I want my media player to show me a movie or play me a song and that's about it. That being said, I want it to look cool in the process wherein lies my dilemma. You see, to me, WMP running the iTunes skin looks better than iTunes itself!
Oh well, kudos to Apple for the release. Hey Apple....how about releasing iCal for PC's now. Hmmmm???

skinnylegs - I personally can't wait until the music store opens it's services in Israel and the rest of the Middle East. I actually buy most of my music anyway (yes!) and with the hideous CD prices here in the Tel Aviv area, and the monsterous costs for shipping from overseas, this is a godsend.

[LOF]skinnylegs - nope. at the moment the itunes music store is only available within the US or for those with a billing adress in the US. I have a shipping address in the US, but not a billing one, unless my family comes to the conclusion that they'd like to pay for all my music!

Just under 20 bucks, according the the current exchange rate. Most of the CDs I bought in the US were about 15 dollars. That might not be too much of a big difference, but it becomes more significant when you end up purchasing alot of music.

No clue, and I don't recall Apple ever indicating when iTunes Music Store is going to be going international. It has the intent to, just don't know when.

iTunes is a crap. You like it or not...
and there are a lot of mp3 players/multifuntional programs better than iTunes or winamp

I see that itune is faster than real on the start, but it really consume about 25M memory on my pc, while realplayer only 12M even when it play some video and music at the same time. moreover, i dislike the ipodsevice and itunehelp service.

1.RealPlayer cannot allow me buy music with a single click, but I am not interested in buying CD via net ( I am not in USA). and evrytime I load into itune store, it said that my memory is not enough for loading in itunestore, but my PC has 512 MB, and always it only use 220M memory, i can not see any reason my memory is not enough.
2. real is already cute, but even we can change lots of skin, actually I have a itune skin for real.
3. real support almost all music and video format, it can encode a lot of formats, eg. realaudio+ATCAR, while itune just can play AAC and mp3.

Dude i can`t stand that prog. Whenever i use it (i have some rare anime that are in rm format) it bombards me with tons of sh1tty spyware messages and when i close it a POP UP pops and "INFORMS" me about "GREAT" new stuff from Real!!!

Its up to you. But do try all the different options before you decide on which one to use as your default player.
Personally, I like iTunes the most because:
1) Its Apple
2) It allows me more control over my playlists
3) I can have a different equalizer preset set for each individual file.
4) My songs are more organized instead of just being grouped together in one huge playlist.

Hey, realplayer is good, I like its interface, I like it and it is cool. It has a lot more of radio stations. I like it, but I dont think it might be the best for playing mp3 collections or music cd's for me. I mean, it can and might be great, but for me, real is for streaming only.
Is like windows media player, for me is just for videos ans streaming, for mp3 or music organizing no, I dont find it suitable for the task.
I see real for streaming, windows media for videos, itunes for music, thats how I have all this arranged, I like to use programs for what they were DESIGNED, not for the multiple use they can give. I dont make webpages with microsoft word, I rather use frontpage or Dreamweaver, the point is that those applications can, but thats not their intended use at all.
Plus real offers more features, but it charges for them, while iTunes offers quite good stuff for free.
The music store is not valid argument for me, nor the 1000000 band equalizer everyone is getting crazy about, my sound card has its internal sound presets, which works quite good for me, and I use to adjust all the sound on my pc, not jut of an application.
I like itunes because:
1. Has nice design
2. Great mp3 organizing.
3. Burns Cd
4. Rips CD
5. Simplistic and has just what I need
As you see, it is not far from realone, which has a good design and is kinda elegant, but I dont like real for mp3 jukebox, it is a streaming application for me.
It looks nice, but id doesn't sounds right and so smooth as Foobar does. Just try to test! And btw im really f@kin' tired to adjust equalizer for each song or album
