my newest version comming out at AquaXP will fix your problems, and i do have Pack's Full Permission; As of Today!

Croka99,

Man, your finalized installer worked beautifully for my WinXP SP1 system...I did not go into 'safe mode' or need to close/shut down explorer, ect...

Just as you stated, I just hit cancel with the WFP (Windows File Protection) pop-ups appeared, and then clicked 'yes'...Also I didn't get one single error when installing...

What a fantastic job you did, my man...and once you dive/explore into Windows more you realize what a nice, through job that Pack did with these files!

With your mod of his shell32.dll, no memory issues/errors, and am able to use the 'Windows calulator' (lol not that I use it that much) without any issues...

To a wonderful job...please keep up your very dedicated work so that our collective membership of the Aqua communities may cherish & enjoy!

Ok, here's a weird one, I have installed the 24.7mb installer on my PC's at work and at home and they work as far as I can tell perfectly (pretty much anyway... I'm happy!), but I try and install on my Dell laptop, which has just had SP1 installed, and it errors on lots of files, including shell32.dll and explorer.exe

I click ignore, but it DOESN'T copy the files, and by the time it is finished, although windows isn't broken and still boots ok, hardly any changes have been applied. Any ideas?

Croka99, so what's new or different in this new version ??

Just wondering before I install it.

FatAxl :own:

Is there any chance to get the files from you without the installer ?? I didn't have problems with the installer in previous versions, but with this one I do, and have to hit ignore of a dozen or so files. If I can get the file, without the installer, I will host it on my site for you, for people that would want it. :own:

this Ver2 installer fixes the uninstallation program and updates the shell32 to the most recient version. it also includes the common task panel in explorer.

croka...

I posted this in the other thread, but I'm hoping you can provide some insight. Every time I go to re-install the pack using your installer, it fails to install important files such as shell32.dll, etc. It just gives me an error (as shown in the first picture on this thread) and says it can't write to the file...

It didn't do this the first time, but somehow I believe windows update has overwritten the shell32.dll file b/c everything is changing back to standard windows icons...

Any help/ideas on how to force the installer to write over those files again?

delete all *.bak files from your windows directory!!!

#66616

I just tried that Croka99. It worked great. After I deleted all of the .bak and .backup files I installed and worked great. I still got the file protection popup, you know click cancal and then yes to keep the modded file, but everything works and is updated correctly. Thanks for the suggestion.

Anyone else having problems, try this solution out. Worked great for me.

your welcome!!!

Hey Croka99,

Well I just uninstalled your 'Installer V2 Package' (23.6 MB) from my system through the Add/Remove Programs panel, and all went well...I then rebooted and did a 'system search' for all .bak files, and then deleted all these (found 37 on my system).

Then I applied your 'Installer V3 Package' (23.4 MB) with the most recent MS Windows Update Critical Fixes included (there were 3 that had showed up as needed with the previous installer)...

Am very happy to report that your 'Installer v3 Package' installed beautifully with no errors at all, system looks great, and just finished going to Windows Update site:

Results: No critical updates needed at this time...

Really nice work my man!

;):D :surfer dude:

#67268

I just read the last post. Is there an installer V3 released somewere ?? I would really like to find it if there is.

#67280

FatAxl,

Sorry about the confusion man, what I did is rename Croka99's latest 'Installer Package' (23.4 MB) v3 for my own clarification...

His link for his latest 'Installer Package' (23.4 MB) is over @aquaxp, and it has the latest critical fixes from Windows Updated included:

http://aquaxp.com/forums/index.php?showtop...pic=2045&st=195

Hope that this is now clear...

#67296

I am so glad I asked my question. I never realized that there was an update V2 yesterday. I just installed it and everything, like before, is just perfect.

Thanks to everyone for helping.

Sorry, I am a ****ie here when it comes to Mac-ing my PC . . .

I downloaded and installed the thing that this forum is about (sorry, don't ever remember seeing an actual name for it), but there were only a few things I noticed that were different:

The log-on and log-off screen

Recycle Bin became Trash

My contect menu said Get Info instead of Properties

What all is this thing supposed to do?

Any help at all, and a good point in the right direction to Mac-ing my PC would be awesome and greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
