that line is neccescary, its from the brushed theme when i took the screenshot... but anyway i just wish i can find out a away to remove that border/line b4 the throbber
How do I edit shell32.dll? It won't open with notepad. What should I use to change those throbber bitmaps?

I have changed the size of the flag for both grey brushed and indigo brushed flags made by 1748. i am running an ftp server for a day so you guys can download them. the name of the 2 files are IEFlagGreyBrushed.zip and IEFlagIndigoBrushed.zip. once unzipped, there will be three *.bmp files on each namely 240.bmp, 241.bmp, and 242.bmp. open shell32.dll with reshacker and go to the similar number folders as the file names under bitmap section and replace the bmp files with the ones you just downloaded from me. always remember to backup your original files.

Uh guys, I gotta a major problem. I used reshack to replace the shell32.dll file so I could have a different ie throbber. I saved the file over the original and restarted. The throbber did not change. I tried it again. The throbber did not change. Then I realized windows was replacing it with a fresh new file every time I re-booted. So my change was not being saved. So then, I tried replacing the shell32.dll in the dllcache and in system32. Yeah, it worked! No, not yeah. My icons are all wacked up. Wayyy screwed up. Most of them are all but gone and the desktop icons have white crud around them. Luckily I saved my original shell32.dll file and I have system restore on. So I'll just replace both shell32.dll files with the original one. But dang; how do I do this??? 
Could someone please give me a hand here? 
save your old backup in a folder of your choice...reset your computer...press f8 during load... click safe mode with dos prompt... go to the folder that you saved your backup... type "copy shell32.bat c:\windows\system32" ....and you should be set... im pretty sure this was already mentioned earlier in the post... you should read before you modify anythign...
No, it was not mentioned before, but thanks. Will give that a try. Also, I believe it is a dll file, not a bat file. shell32.dll is the right one.

i am sorry to hear your problem. i would like to share here with my minute experience. Everytime you change some dll files, instead of overwriting them, keep them, and name them with an extension that windows does not recognize. yes, you will have several system32.dll files for example, but in case something goes south, you can always revert back to the previous stable "version". this has always been what i do and so far i never have problem.
in any case, i have a system32.dll file that i can share with you. it is originally a system32.dll file i downloaded from Iceman who did a tremendously wonderful job plus some extra tweaks i did like changing the throbes in my internet explorer and windows explorer to blue indigo. the throbs work perfectly since you need a precise size in order for both apps to display the "rotation motion". i also have added susumu's avi mac osx progress bar, as can be seen here(take a look at the top). In order for me to complete the progress bar across the platform, i also modded other dll files namely shdocvw.dll and shimgvw.dll to include the *.avi file. hence there will be 3 files that are zipped into one file called ProgressBar.zip and can be downloaded here. In case, you want build everything from scracth by yourself, you can download just the indigo blue throbber here, the grey brushed throbber here or the brushed indigo throbber here. The susumu's avi file can also be downloaded here
last but not least, i recommend reading Iceman;s tutorial on changins system files which is very complete and he offers you several ways to changing your system files successfully.(thumbs up to Iceman for the guide!). you have to read it at least 2 times to get the feeling. if you do, then the probem you have would not have happened or at least could have been prevented.

Thank you for your advice dev null. I shall read over Iceman's guide again. I am ok now. Actually, I did save one of the older files, luckily. So, I am ok. But, I still don't have a mac ie throbber. I think I will take another look at his guide. Thanks again.

Before I download any of your throbber, (thanks for uploading them to us) May I ask what Service pack are you using..
Its a good thing to know so people with no service pack doesn't go and get sp1 .dll files and be in dead water..

A few posts up you provide links to various throbbers,.. the indigoaqua.zip file which includes all 3 throbber sizes is useful. 240.bmp, 241.bmp and 242.bmp.
However I should tell you that the 242.bmp file is incorrect.
It is a 24 pixel size throbber, whereas 242 takes a 26 pixel size. Therefore the throbber is smaller than it should be.
I have great trouble resizing throbbers.
Can you upload the throbber resized properly down to 26 pixels. resizing down from 38 pixel size will give the best result, rather than sizing a 24 pixel bmp up to 26.

i dont know why the size would be inaccurate. in my system, they are perfect. anyway, i am assuming you are referring to the IEFlagBlueIndigo.zip file 'cos i dont have indigoaqua.zip. i have changed the file from 22 to 26 as you request. if the size is still not accurate, let me know.

To prevent confusion,.. the 26 pixel throbber linked to above at 242.zip is actually intended for the 241 space in shell32.dll.
When dev/null resized the 32 pixel 242 to 26 pixels he forgot to save as 241. Bless his kind heart, tho.
