[released] Tdk Panther 3

Nice tabs!! thats some breakthrough news!

but im wondering is it possible to make the SELECTED TAB taller WITHOUT it getting wider and magnified?! I think it would look kinda cool with the selected tab getting taller and fuctioning like a tab, just not getting larger in all demensions.

Yes that is possible, but why would you do that?

In real panther it doesn't do that.

..or does it?

No man,... I intended 1:1ness

@ThreeDrives

In MozillaFirebird, the tabs are still oversized/streched/unnormal and not usable. There seems to be something wrong with Panter 3. Other themes from you work good & smooth.

#55478

Thanks I will look into this.

yes yes, i know, but i mean, not for YOUR theme specifically, but the actual xml settings that stylebuilder uses for all themes in general.

Thanks for your comments.

>looking more and more like X-Port

Really? I feel honoured that you think my work approaches yours in Apple emulation.

However if you ask me, I think it looks nothing like X-Port,

I think it looks much closer to Apple Panther. ;)

>the font's are weird though.. :

Why are they weird? When I compare them to Xport, they are a closer match to panther, the fonts in Xport are thicker and darker than Apple's.

But if you mean the taskbar and captionbar fonts, then yes they could be better, and I have a plan for them, in the next few days.

>and the tabs don't work right.. (i downloaded the latest one)

>the right tab has the error (warned you bout this)

The tabs do work right, in fact they work perfectly. The fact that the rightmost tab in some windows appears to be cut off is a characteristic of the way XP handles tabs, it cannot be helped, you know this. I think that having 1:1 Panther tabs (unlike any other Panther theme out there including X-Port2), far outweighs that fact..

>the scrollbar looks messed up in IE... (why do everyone elses skins do this?):

It does so in every other skin that I have used, apart from yours. Pointing that out is easy, telling us how to fix it is difficult.

>btw.. the arrow.. on the system tray.. it's TINY...:

I know, I wouldn't have it any other way. :) I am a minimalist.

Thanks for helping out with the tabs man, I would never have figured it out if you hadn't helped me.

UPDATE

TDK Panther 3.3

Ok after spending a lot of thought on what people were saying, I have decided that they are right. LucidaMac works well for me at 1024x768 Normal, but I appreciate that at other resolutions it may deteriorate.

So I have decided to do a complete change of fonts for TDK 3.3.

As I said above, the taskbar and captionbar fonts have changed.

Thank you very much Trueno92 for helping out!

The only place LucidaMac remains is in the Tabs, as there really is no other font (not even icemans' Goku!) that is closer to the real Panther tab font.

See preview:

(Excuse large image, but it's only way to show all* font details)

nice selection of websites ya visit there..... :naughty:

fonts look great!!! i hope everyone prefers this!!!

#55812

Awesone!

Some requests, if possible:

- Option for show User Pic and User Name in Start Panel;

- Bordless version.

Great Work! ;)

#55816

just downloaded the newest version..

the font on my toolbars looks like the Chicago font from OS9..

chicago.jpg

some of the fonts are so tiny i can't read them..

small.jpg

even in outlook they are tiny..

text.jpg

here's what the tabs look like..

why.jpg

it's kinda silly (i think)

to have a theme that only looks right, when a person has a particular graphics card, that adds 2 rows of tabs.. (2 rows of tabs are not very mac like)

also..

why did you change the caption buttons..

the green button with the PLUS sign, should not shrink.

and the yellow with the MINUS, should not make it big..

this is completely backwards..

if you are trying to get 1:1... i understand. but don't confuse the hell out of

PC and Mac users, by assigning buttons to the opposite function...

when i use Mac OSX.. i know Red is close, yellow is min, and green is make bigger..

then, i move to my PC. and in most aqua-themes.. (i use my own, most, duh)

the colors stay the same, but are moved..

with your theme.. i have to look for new colors...

it's very confusing to people who use macs.. and anyone who knows what plus and minus mean..

also..

if you are trying to go completely 1:1..

may i suggest not making the start panel look like the e-mail program..

also.. if you are going to remove my beloved user icon... make sure you remove it all the way.. there is a artifact there.. about 8px... that looks weird..

???

Wow, your reply has really surprised me...

You are right about the colouring of the glyphs, I had been meaning to change the symbols on them. I am however going to keep this ordering. Also the new emails in outlook are bold. This should be fixed hopefully.

But I think it's really odd that you wrote all of that about my theme, the lengths you went to saying how incorrect and faulty it was, without even having the right fonts installed on your system.

If you had installed the correct fonts then the images you mention would have looked like this:

?

Why would someone post crappy images and claim that they are my theme?

I'm not in a fight, I just think it's bad.

#55847

i've installed all the fonts that came with your theme..

i actually had them installed before i downloaded your theme..

i think part of the reason your screenshots look different than the ones i posted..

is the apparent extent to which you modded you system files..

#56005

umm my screen with TD's theme installed looks fine, I am using the lucida Grande font and that is is, nothing really looks off to me, and that artifact that you speak of, doesnt exist on my box.

I love this theme TD, and I know J. was just being constructive, but thought I would chime in with my two cents.

#56008

One pixel more or one pixel less, this is all fine tuning. IMHO, we should solve problems like THIS.

I don't know if the bug is on tdk's panther 3.x or it's on me. Maybe it's a config thing of Firebird or anything else. I don't know. Any ideas?

screenshot-5931.png;)

#56012

@Photo678

what resolution are you using..

that may be my issue..

maybe this is one of those themes that can only be used at a particular res...

(some logons were like that too)

btw.. i'm using 1152x864

@ercan

the bug with mozilla is in the skin it's self..

all skins (aqua) to my knowledge have this.

i've actually just fixed.. and will be releaseing a patch soon for, this but in X-Port.

it's kinda like the Scrollbar bug in IE.. most skins have it..

but it can be fixed..

i may consider looking into seeing, whether the Mozilla/IE bugs can be fixed via Stylebuilder..

#56023

Hi TD and folks.

It seems I'm having the same problem as before (actually it never went away, guess, but I skipped some releases so I'm not sure)

The pic is from ie status bar. The style just loaded, no changes.

Suggestions?

TD, I like the new look very much, I might have some other glitches to submit to your attention but are really irrelevant. Terrific work tnx.

Ja450n, I like your x-port very much as well. May I humbly aks you to share your knowlege about scrollbar and stuff, so that we can have more and more 1:1 themes.

We're all on the same side, standing on Helm's deep walls.

Whatever.

Bye

@All:

I've been saying this since I first started making Panther visual styles (remember s3d, a mod of the first ever Panther theme, by Susumu?)

And I'll say it again:

When I released s3d I said: Do not consider this theme mine, lets ALL work on it to make it the best panter theme out there.

I do my best to make the details look like Panther, but I am not an expert themer.

As I said to Ja450n in a private message 2 days ago, he is the expert in this field, he knows 5x what I do about theming, I am just learning as I go along.

I value everyones opinion very much, as long as it is constructive, not destructive.

And I, and I think everyone else, would really welcome any advice on how to FIX problems.

Also Matthias has proposed using 20, 20, 20 as the font depth, to not make the fonts so black, so I will try that.

@Ja450n:

Your using 1152x864 ? Now I'm beginning to understand, I'm on a laptop I cannot select anything other than 1024 and 800.

@Ercan (Aqua Soft'a hos geldin):

I do not have Mozilla, so I'll need to see about this, but as of now I have NO idea of what is causing this.

I can compare with a theme that you know DOES work with Mozilla, can you name me one, so that I can attempt to dissect it and see if I can learn anything?

@F Joker:

That is not a problem at your end, it is the theme. There are 2 progress bars in Windows;

a.) The progress bar for copying/deleting etc.

b.) The little progress bar on the bottom of Internet Explorer windows

If I make the progressbar at the bottom of IE fill the space (15 pixels I believe) then the other (a.) progress bar only takes the first 4 rows of the progress bar image (progresschunk) and stretches it, so that we do not get the fullcolouring.

If I make the more commonly used progress bar look like it should, then the progress bar that you mention is only drawn using it's first 9 pixel rows.

I chose the second option. If anyone knows how to fix this please say so.

Hos goerduek :-)

Yes, your Panther themes version 2, 2.01, borderless and with borders and your Panther Brushed 2 work all fine with Mozilla/MozillaFirebird.

I'am actually using your "TDK_Panther_2.01.msstyles".
