Who has perfect Leopard emulation?

yeah... who has perfect leopard emulation? I need like an example screenshot of the perfect emulated desktop to make a list on what I need to do...

this my desktop right now (It needs improvements...)

Don't mean to brag, but i achieved *perfect* emulation a couple weeks ago, but i hate commercialism, so i pimp slapped it and went back my choice. Perfect emulation requires perfectly smoothed fonts, icons, systray icons, and all perfectionist details, without that, it's not perfect, but a pursuit for it.

#478004

oh ok, well, can you guide me on how to get a nice menubar?

#478005

You mean objectbar? That's what you'll need, or you can try Lavendemasser's (dont know how to spell it) MacBar or whatever it's called, not as good though so.

#478006

as I said before, maybe we can modify WinMac?

#478007

I wouldn't say that mine is perfect.....but heck, I'm close! Haha jk ;)

Well, that do you have? You're going to need ObjectBar for the FinderBar, and WindowBlinds for changing the look of the windows and stuff. I have a skin for Object Bar in the OB section, and I prefer the LeopardGlass theme for WindowBlinds.

I would get a smoother font....icons.....there's a lot of stuff you can do here and there.....I just hope you're not a perfectionist, or you'll have long nights trying to tweak the smallest things...I need a life.

dude! thats exactly what I want, PM me, tell me the steps! :)

#478018

Yes, but My comp crashed.

I wonder if there is a way to have the icon reflected, without taking so much space between icons.

Ask me any emulation question, I might have an answer, or suggestion ;)

#478019

ok CanasX, first aside from the menu bar, where can I find a Complete set of Leopard icons?

#478020

*sigh* there isn't any. Important keys would are:

a.)Correct fonts & font smoothing

b.)Shadows

c.)Correct Icons

d.)Nice Miranda Skin

MacOS9Fan, you're overlooking everything. A wise man once told me that when it comes to screenshots, you need a perfectionist attitude.

#478023

just wanted to say something, dont you think the default wallpaper is weird?

#478026

Perfect Leopard can't be done ;)

Why ? Because under XP (it could be done under Vista with some explorer extensions for hiding their location bar), you can't get the menu background to change to light gray when the window is inactive, even with WB.

I tried perfect Tiger, and I came quite close to it, but it was not worth it and I lost some useful functionality, ObjectBar has some issues with the tray, and the OS isn't designed the way it needed to look like osx.

#478049

yeah, sometimes is just better to leave the leopard alone for a while, or he will bite be and leave a big scar on my PC, now I am turned tiger because the Leopard wall is very weird, when i look at Apple`s website, their computers look extremly weird with those wallpapers... so, yeas I back on tiger, its looks perfect... the tiger wont bite me! and you know, when they look at your computer they got to know what it is, and I think they will recognize tiger more than leopard because of the aqua wallpaper... your right, moddding the PC into Macintosh can be very buggy at the same time, but for me its like a challenge that I have to get around to, a very fun challenge :)

Cloning an OS actually is skinning everything but the wallpaper :P

what?

#478057

Ok, using the default wallpaper makes your windows more OSXish but you can have the "perfect emulation" even if you use an custom wallpaper. You don't see many OSX desktops that still show the defualt wallpaper, no ? ;)

I'd say they are all scattered all over the net.

Try this:http://catalin-v.deviantart.com/art/130-Le...-Icons-61399795

I have added some leopard icons as individual in my favorites

^^

The screenshot above needs RK launcher and you will success perfect emulation to my point of view. ;)

#478062

perfect! thanks, I will keep those icons in mind when I finally get familiar with leopard, thanks!

hmmm, there just one bug that I have to get rid of...

you know when you have an app open on your desktop right? well, the skin I am using has the file menu then the square that shows the app next to the menubar letters...

maybe an image will clarify this...

how can I get rid of that?

Are you still going to want that step by step guide......? Haha.

I agree with some of the things said. When I first started emulating, I had Tiger, since that's what FlyAKite emulated. But then I found out about Leopard, and started emulating that cool cat. I eventually went back to Tiger, and I gotta say, my pc looked a lot more like OS X with Tiger than it did with Leopard. I think a big reason is because FAK emulates Tiger, so that makes it a hell of a lot easier. And then I went back to Leopard just cause.....but I do miss Tiger.

I wonder if there is a way to have the icon reflected, without taking so much space between icons.

Same here. I used to have the icons reflect, but the huge gap between them bugged the crap out of me, hence why they don't reflect. And I have "show new apps" on RK, so it looks nicer when apps pop up and when minimized. All the icons look the same, rather than having your dock icons reflect and you minimized window not.

#478179

That's good but you should change your folder icons and get the smoothed lucida grande ;) (available in Acua guikit for windows)

Who here still trusts (like me) that we can emulate tiger but use handelgotdlig instead of lucida grande ? :P

The font seems to be different in leopard. Is it the font or the rendering that has been redone ?

(Personnal preference : I hate the grass wallpaper :P, I think it was only introduced as an "placeholder" for the coming Space wallpaper, and was part of the Leopard-copying-Vista joke, it's not "Aqua-ish")

#478249

Alright well i see, a lot of you guys fonts are terrible, so i suggest you get yourself a copy of LucidaMacBold, and set it to 9pt for everything, looks perfect for Icon titles, and yea. I wouldn't exactly call any of this perfect emulation.

No, i'm not flaming either.
