Power PC is SO slow! I would understand why someone would like slow processors lol. Anyways, I like Intel more, they're faster
I had an 12" iBook G4 (last revision) and I currently have a MacBook. I can't tell the difference between the two in tasks except maybe in iLife Apps and Startup.

Well, the last iBooks were pretty good actually. Those iBooks that you had probably were old. Some people today would say anything below a Quad PowerMac G5 (in PowerPC Macs) is slow.
I liked the G4 and G5 ones. I agree anything else in TODAY's market is very slow. But when the G3's just came out they were fast for the market AT THAT TIME.

I used a G3 like 3 years ago in a lab an it was fine.
There is an old eMac in my homeroom that has 10.2.9 on it ^.^runs like a dream

I used OS 9 6-7 years ago and it had some fun apps. I liked OS 9.

You mean PowerBook G4? Let me guess: You have a 2GB of RAM 1.67GHz PowerBook G4 while your PowerMac G5 has 1GB of RAM. Otherwise, I don't believe that a PowerBook G4 is faster than a PowerMac G5.
^ well the powerbook is much more reliable (doesn't crash ever) and not noisy and doesn't have problems with internet

Which PowerMac G5 do you have?
I have a neighbor that has a Dual 2.0GHz PowerMac G5 (2005 model) and he likes it. He uses it for Adobe apps and as a workstation.

Soo, time to bump this thread; a big bump, but still. Things have changed in my opinion in the last few months or so.
I now like both Intel and AMD equal. Each make good chips, chipsets, etc. AMD also now has ATI, and I've noticed great improvements in ATI chips and cards. So, Intel and AMD are matched in my book.
I use Intel Pentium D 2x3GHz with 2MB (if i remember well) cache/core - and had no problem with that.
Ive always stuck with intel... because....well, thats what I started with a pentium 2 back in the day...
I currently have my old PC with a P4 2.4ghz processor and titan motherboard.
My Macbook Pro is a generation 1 and has the original intel core duo 2ghz processor rocking inside.
Ive heard that AMD are better for gaming, yadaya but Intel tends to be more stable. But everyone knows thats just a big lame generalisation.
I think AMD has dropped the ball in recent times with processor performance... and thus have been targetting the entry level processor end. Though they hope to outdo intel with thier new phenom tri-core I have my doubts... I think the quadcore is the better chipset but I think its let down by Vista and its software not utilising its full power. Thus I think in the highend both are considerable equals.
I think in the mid range market, intel rules though. Intel Core duo is unmatched IMHO.
Though, what would I know? I really dont understand the depths of motherboards/processors that well.
