Its very sad, I was watching how Apple Introduced Aqua on 2000, and It was a nice interface, but now its kind of looks like cheap plastic...

While I agree it seems Aqua is getting a more "cheap/plastic" feel to it. But if you go back and look at the original aqua it looks VERY DIRTY. As if some kid added drop shadows on everything in photoshop.

Yeah, Aqua is going to be replaced in Leopard. It's very clear that with iPhoto '08 and redesign of Apple.com Leopard will have iTunes 7 scrollbars and UI. I am sure a lot people who like Aqua more will like the iTunes 7 scrollbars and UI too, it will grow on them after some time. I want the change to happen and a new look. Aqua was good back then but it's time to move on from Aqua to the iTunes 7 UI (probably called "Illuminous").
I miss the aqua style that Apple had... I wish that themes come out for Macs so that people can still have that aqua touch on their new Leopard ones:)
There's always ShapeShifter and themes like SmoothStripes and Canum, just two themes that emulate and yet improve upon the original Aqua.
And I agree that Aqua, originally, looked pretty bad, especially between 10.0 Public Beta and 10.2. The pinstripes made you dizzy, everything had huge drop shadows and none of the widgets looked particularly professional or well polished.
i think aqua is pretty much dead... but i dont think its influence has completely
it had its time, and im glad it did... we now see much more glossier interfaces because of it (yes vista and even XP media center and the like).
I think remnants of Aqua will still exist in leopard. I dont think there will be aqua-style scroll bars or buttons, but I think there will be a lot of 'blue' in apps such as spotlight used as highlights as well as in menu item selection etc....
Long lived the nice and slick look of aqua. Aqua used to be smooth and on the job.
But, it is time to take out the old and make way for the new. But someday

Aqua won't be completely dead as long as the glossy-esque system widgets continue to be used, like the push buttons. I think even iTunes 7 still uses those...
I would fall into a spiraling depression if Aqua died (not really but i'd be upset).
Leopard looks...well...ugly. The sidebar is HIDEOUS now that it doesn't have a frame in between it and it's all blue...ech...the toolbar buttons are butt ugly and well...just boo!!!
Leopard's UI is as ugly as MM3.

I don't think you will say that once you use Leopard. People who dislike Leopard will probably like it after they use it and all the stuff they hated will grow on them. That's the case for any new operating system release.

Exactly. People tend to hate change just because it's what they're used to, even if the change is for the better. I know a lot of people who were sure they'd hate Office 2007, but now that they've used it, they could never go back to the drop-down menus of Office 2003.
Aqua is not dead.
Aqua is the entire User Interface that Mac OS X relies on. Changing an image inside a resource file doesn't kill off Aqua.
So what if the brushed metal was smoothed out? Brushed metal was a fad that has now passed, just like the widespread pinstripes and shadows of Jaguar Aqua.
If you are referring to the Aqua-styled buttons, they are not gone in Leopard. Apple is simply differentiating between the metal and aqua windows further by using smooth metal buttons on metal windows.

No, you are incorrect. He is referring to the sidebar, which is the left pane in Finder. It is present in Tiger (it will show you your drives, network, folders, etc...).
Borders are so 2005. The borderless windows allows Leopard to dedifferentiate between unified aqua and metal windows. Also, it adds less visual weight, which soothes the eyes more.
In Leopard, focused windows have the dark metal title/toolbar and a huge shadow, while inactive windows have a white aqua title/toolbar and a small shadow. This is supposed to help you "focus" on apps more, due to the absence of borders that previously bound your work area.
All these interfaces are Aqua.
So, no. Aqua is not dead.
The buttons in my new sig exists in leopard (That's aqua). We will still have Aqua features in apple.

I'm glad that they have dismissed the Brushed Style because I never liked it. I'm using UNO on Tiger and a few days ago, I went to an Apple store to have a look at the new iMacs and they had of course regular Aqua style and then I realized how ugly Brushed Metal looks to me. It's good to see that Leopard will get a more unified look.
Thats why I emulate Jaguar, it shows the true interface of Aqua!

Apple did release Tiger publicly in April 2005, though, which also had a clash of brushed and unified metal, along with some plastic elements.

Aqua is why I wanted a Mac. Things change, been 7 years and Apple is sure to make some new moves...but aqua, well, I'll miss you.

Aqua will always be alive as long as there is people who still love it.
I personally think that aqua will only finally dissapear after 5/10 years after leopard as there is still good older machines that run tiger ect . . . very well and won't be upgraded to Leopard!

The Aqua interface was best in the Mac OS X versions up to 10.1.5 - i liked those horizontal stripes and transparent borders if inactive windows and the Aqua blue wallpaper - it was the essence of the aqua style, but now it's gone... I love the leopards dock, but I also liked the brushed metal. Every time when a new OS X version was released a new version of aqua blue wallpaper also appeared... What happened? Why? Is it the influence of Vista? I hope not...
